    Default Table of Eight

Okay, everyone, time to put on your thinking caps. Were you every sitting around with friends (not discounting here on The Border) and the topic comes up about who you would like to sit down with at dinner and have a chance to get to know them? We do this frequently and I always find it interesting to hear what people have to say -- not to mention how often my own choices change.

So here's the way it works. You have to name eight people you would really like to have at your dinner table for a casual meal and good conversation. It can be anyone from any walk of life and for any reason. (Since we call it "Table of Eight" and the evening would consist of dinner and cocktails I thought the 'Cheap Talk and Wine) thread was appropriate).

If you're really ambitious, plan more than one party. Of course, we'll all list the obvious and include our four guys here...but give it some serious consideration and think outside the box with your choices.

    EXAMPLE:
    Timothy
    Glen
    Don
    Joe
    Barack Obama
    Ben Bernanke
    Denzel Washington
    Derek Jeter

I choose these people because (obviously) I have a million questions for each of The Eagles -- to say nothing of loving the idea of gazing around the table and seeing them there; I've got a lot of issues to address with Obama & Bernanke regardomg the state of the country and our economy; I would love to hear Denzel's inspiration for his involvement with young people in our country; and Derek Jeter has the most gorgeous eyes of ANYONE on the face of the earth (he wouldn't have to open his mouth, just sit there and look at me!). I also think that Don and Timothy and Obama could provide some extremely interesting conversation on the topics of conservation, land preservation, global warming and the greenhouse effect.

Okay...now it's your turn. Who would YOU invite to YOUR Table of Eight?
I just need a little downtime.........

Why GA--I am honored!!! Thank you!

Love this topic and I will take your suggestion and will have to have several dinner parties, one of each with just music people, sports figures, Borderers, entertainers and public figures/others.

Since this will never happen-unfortunately, I am adding a couple deceased people because I would of loved to have had the chance to speak with them and to tell you the truth-I could have several dinner parties with just music people! Hard to narrow it down.

    First party....

    Timothy
    Joe Walsh
    Jimmy Page
    Robert Plant
    Benjamin Orr (deceased)
    Brian Connolly (deceased)
    David Gilmour
    Jonny Lang
He sings it high, he plays it low

Willie, thanks for reminding me...your Table of Eight can include anyone living OR dead, young or old. The first time we played this I included John F. Kennedy and his brother Bobby! Your 'guest list' is only as limited as your imagination! My son wants to invite Jim Morrison!

    So.. of course,

Steve Martin - a great comedian but also a musician, artist and writer

Alton Brown - My food guru and really smart.
And then I'd have to hold a lottery to see which one of my dear friends were included *G*

Hey, Mike, Jim Morrison can do anything he wants at the Table of Eight since it's my SON'S table and not mine!
