The carry-out grooves are the grooves at the end of the record, toward the center, after the music has run out. The Eagles had phrases put on the carry out grooves on the first pressings just like they had with One Of These Nights, HC & TLR.

Here's what Wiki says about it:

    "

    • Original pressings of this double-album had text engraved in the carry-out grooves on each side, as had been the band's tradition since their 1975 album One of These Nights:
      1. Side 1: Is it illegal to yell "movie!" in a firehouse?
      2. Side 2: "Hello, Federal?...Ship it!"
      3. Side 3: Not Tonight, Thanks...
      4. Side 4: ...Ive gotta rest up for my monster"

    • The carry-out groove of the fourth side did not fade to silence as was customary for the vast majority of records. Instead, the crowd noise continued, even into the final-loop groove. Thus for those listening on manual turntables, the applause would not end until the listener removed the stylus from the disc."

For the record, I also have first pressings of the other albums with the carry out grooves printed.

Thanks Zelda. We pride ourselves on our record collection. We are kinda obsessed with it. And those are the originals from my collection when they first came out. Pretty cool, indeed.

TBF, don't your albums 'freeze' out in the garage during the winter? Doesn't it harm them?

We haven't had any trouble with them over the years. It's probably not the best set up but we don't really have another option. That's where they are listened to, on the deck and patio, and the only time we've ever had them in the house, they were actually stored away for years in the attic. They were made to be listened to so that's why we finally sat it up like we have it now. Not a week goes by in good weather do we not listen to them. My fear is always a fire or something to destroy them. How sad would that be?
