Brothers for life. RIP Glenn
I'm not sure I believe in fate, but I know that crossing paths with Glenn Lewis Frey in 1970 changed my life forever, and it eventually had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet. It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it. But, I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some." -Don Henley
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY HOTEL CALIFORNIA ! Dreamer, I agree, their crowning achievement and one of the best rock albums ever. Not a bad song on the album. Soda, I agree about the sophisticated the harmonies on "New Kid in Town". It won the Grammy for musical arrangement, and should have won for best vocal performance by a group.

Just like to acknowledge that it was on this day in 1977 that the Hotel California album hit #1 on the billboard charts. But, as with most of the Eagles' catalog, the album met with mixed reviews from critics at the time. Who would know that it would go on to be considered one of the best albums ever recorded and the 3rd best-selling album of all time.

"Be part of something good--
Leave something good behind."
I think Glenn's theory re: the critics just about clocks it!

Love this album!
I've always heard if the critics like it it's no good!
"They will never forget you 'till somebody new comes along"
1948-2016 Gone but not forgotten
This is their masterpiece IMO. Them moving to a rock direction instead of country rock was a wise choice and getting Felder and Walsh together replacing Leadon was also a brilliant move. This is their shining star.
I love, love, love this album. HC is still my favorite song but I absolutely love NKIT, VOL, LITFL, etc. NKIT has really grown on me over the years. I think it's my second favorite after HC now. Amazing record.
