From my Google alert, a portion of someone's blog about last weekend's Live Earth concert:
    ---------------------------------------

The real test will be if any viewer actually take any action because of these concerts. Anyone who's been in charge of recruiting people for any kind of activity knows that it is hard to spur anyone to action. And let's face it - the current generation of rock fans are more apathetic than previous generations. This isn't the 60s, and this wasn't Woodstock. If you go to an Eagles concert (who didn't perform at Live Earth), chances are Don Henley would make some plea to get involved in some kind of political or social action - and chances are many fans would get involved. But subtract a few decades to the fan base and the activism just isn't there. You can't tell me Kelly Clarkson, Ludacris, and The Smashing Pumpkins have a fan base as political or socially active as Don Henley's.

Obviously this guy counts himself among the fans he's praising.

I'm not really sure I really agree with this part, but I do agree with the overall point this person was trying to make.

Default Eagles Mentions in the Press

I found this funny joke item about the Eagles adding a new member, Adolf Hitler. I realized we don't really have a place to put something like that, so I thought I'd make a thread for little Eagles mentions we find that aren't really interviews or major stories, but are still worth a look!

I, at least, found this funny!

I read this earlier today online too--it was a hoot.

I could make so many comments and change around so many lyrics. I won't, of course, but I found it funny too.

On a more serious note, its well we can laugh at it. Very few of us would know first hand the horrors of WW2. My parents lived through it, but Ireland being 'officially' neutral meant that they only had to bear trade restrictions rather than the fear that our neighbouring countries must have felt. Rant over!

I don't know who thinks up this kind of stuff, but I find it kind of offensive. The Eagles are THE American band and to associate them with such an evil man albeit in fun, is just wrong IMHO. And who the heck is Don Meisner? My father served in that war and believe me, it was anything but funny. To quote GAN....rant over.
