Another blog from someone who thinks it would be cool not to like the Eagles but actually does. I always think of these as weak people who are influenced by fashion. An ok read and good photo though.

Very critical of Glenn. I'm sure he and Don can both be difficult or cantankerous but if you're going to lay the blame for everything at his feet, you could just as easily hold him responsible for everything that went right.

And I love 'You Belong to the City'!

I am used to that sort of stuff now. It is nasty, uninformed & simplistic. People who only cite THIO, Sexy Girl & YBTTC have never actually listened to Glenn's other songs. They certainly haven't listened to After Hours. Glenn never did anything to any of these people & yet they all seem to personally resent him.

I couldn't see anything that was 'in defence' of the band except in the second last paragraph. 99% of it was an outpouring of hatred of Glenn. How is that defending them? What did I miss? Since when has ICYTW been 'disco' because Tim has a high voice? Why does this sort of stuff get published?

    End of rant.

Joe and Felder make the top ten list of guitar solos in Classic Rock. Not sure how two people playing can be a solo, but I agree they belong on the list. Only higher up, of course.

I'm partial to a good rant.

I don't know why they assume that everything that went wrong is Glenn’s fault. I admire him. I love his voice and his songs. I don't think the Eagles would have done anything without him, his drive and ambition. It’s probably simply because he’s less circumspect, less tactful, more honest in fact that he bears the brunt of it.

    Cool.

ETA: My comment was in reference to the release of the Vinyls.

Most of the criticism is not about how he ran the Eagles but about his solo career. But the line about him writing songs not out of creative necessity but to make the charts is deeply unfair. He also apparently only became a musician to become famous, as well. He is evil incarnate.

Cue the usual sheep afterwards with their 'the Dude was right' comments. Yawn. Why waste energy? If you don't like the band, don't comment.

This article seems to provide more evidence for the erosion of quality journalism and reporting in today's world. Anyone wonder why they decided to not be more open - drugs and other antics aside - to the press before?

At least they're not just reprinting the press release.
