Hitler is mocked all the time, this is no more offensive to me than something like the use of 'Springtime for Hitler' in The Producers. It makes no difference to me that the method of mockery this time is placing Hitler with the Eagles, though they are my favourite band.

I think it is healthy to laugh at Hitler. I think in life nothing would have enraged him more than mockery.

I totally agree - very well said, JF. I also totally agree that the horrors Hitler caused were anything but funny. It would be appalling to see him deified. However, I, personally, find it rather cathartic to see him jokingly ridiculed and treated as a sham and laughingstock.

Here is another Eagles mention, from the Moncton newspaper, dated 7-5-08:
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Last Saturday, [Times & Transcript editor Alan Cochrane] was downtown checking out the bikes when he spotted a man matching the height, hair colour, facial features and dour expression of the one and only Henley. He was dressed in a brown sport coat, jeans and brown leather boots, walking along Main Street looking over all the cool motorcycles. Alan gave chase, but the mystery man vanished into the crowd, not to be seen again."

    ---------------------------------------------------------------

Don, a leather-clad motorcyclist? Very interesting.
And seriously, do they always have to say his "dour expression"? He has such a nice smile--he just needs to use it more!

Interesting! But it doesn't seem very likely he would be up at Moncton right now, despite the show in August. Who knows, though? It's certainly an intriguing idea.

Hmmm - "brown sport coat, jeans and brown leather boots" - sure sounds rather Henley-like to me!

Can I say that I've never thought of Don as someone who would ride a motorbike. If he does, this is the first I've heard of it.
