Actually, I kind of see your point, FP, but I think that style works for BOS, much more so than HOTM.

I agree with you about this, Katherine. This "cold and detached" style of video is much more suitable to the lyrics for Boys of Summer than for The Heart of the Matter. The lyrics to HOTM are so emotional and ingenuous and totally contrary to the video.

Any ER fans out there--specifically any Doug and Carol/George Clooney and Juliana Margolies--fans? Anybody remember the last episode with Carol, when she went to Seattle to be with Doug? They played Don's Taking You Home in that scene.

Here's a couple of versions of it.

    The final reunion:

A compilation ending with the reunion:

Isn't it terrific when shows use great songs like this so effectively?

Back when I was an undergrad at Texas A&M, my housemates and I watched that Thursday block of NBC religiously, which included ER. We all got into the Doug/Carol romance and were so bummed when he left the show! I found it freaking AWESOME that he came back for Carol's final episode and gave all of us what we'd been rooting for since the show began.

That's exactly how I felt, Soda. Funny thing, I hadn't "rediscovered" Don and the Eagles at that point, so the significance of using Don's song was lost on me.

Thanks for posting those clips from OKC, too! I'm sure my voice is one of those "whoo-hoo"s at the end!

Ah - That is so sweet the way they used Taking You Home in that final episode. It almost made me cry and I didn't even watch the show!

I, too, watched that last episode, and was so thrilled to hear that song at the end. I had forgotten that, thanks for the reminder.

Oh, that is one of my favorite videos! That is from one of the early Bridge Benefits, and they all look so handsome!
Don sang about 5 or 6 songs at that gig and they are all wonderful. That is Don's longtime collaborator Danny Kortchmar on guitar at the far left.

That was really good. He really did justice to the song.
