Nice clear visual recordings! The person recording must have been shooting the screen. Those were fun to watch, but caused a slight case of PEW.

I've been to 7 or 8 shows in the last 3 years, and despite some issues, I think this was my favorite of them all. My setbacks to a perfect evening were the obligatory Blimp-headed giant in front of me and the 4 really drunk people behind. Since I could do nothing about those things, I concentrated on the guys, and they were doing their jobs, realllly well. Glenn was loose, relaxed and in full vocal strength. He was sporting the purple shirt in solidarily with gay/lesbian youth who face bullying. He said they were all parents of teenagers and knew how difficult those years were for everybody, but gay-bashing was a burden that made it all the more difficult, so he wanted to let people know he supported them.
After the "botanical segment" that opens the second set, he talked about how that was how they started out, sitting around with just acoustic guitars, legal pads and flair pens in his living room and working on songs. Oh, and Beer! Lots of Beer! That gave me a great mental image of them all together writing.
Don talked a little bit, but was pretty stoic, but really concentrating. It was weird not seeing him crawl behing that drum set. Scotty was really banging the hell out of 'em, tho. Don kept close watch. His voice started out strong, but he really had to work hard for Desperado. It sounded good but a little strained.
Timothy was really cute (duh). He was real active, bouncing around, enjoying himself, especially with Joe's songs. He was really rocking out. His first solo song was a little hard for him, but after he warmed up, he sounded great.
Joe was absolutely on fire last night. He gave a shout out to Dale Peters and Jimmy Fox who were in the audience. I don't know if he wanted to show off a bit or what, but Walk Away was one of the best versions I've ever heard. Funk and the solo for RMW were also incredible. He was more smiley than regular, with lots of dancing around, jumping, waving and pointing to folks. He's guitar royalty in Northern Ohio, the people still really love him around there. (I know I do, heh heh). Finally got to see the Kleenex extravaganza. That is pretty funny.
There was one 3-song encore. It went so fast, they could have played a lot long for me. All in all a great night. I've never seen them this relaxed, spontaneous and seeming to enjoy themselves and each other. I know I did and the rest of the crowd as well.
Thanks fellas, it was a great time. If it's the last time I see you live, it was wonderful. Great memories.

Thank you so much for this. I admire this man on so many levels but this seems to reveal yet another side to him. I think that is great.

As for the 'lots of beer' part I can dig it.

Thanks for the review, jdubfan. I'm glad they put on such a terrific show, especially Joe - sounds like he was SMOKIN'! Also, good for Glenn about his "show of solidarity."

How awesome for the girl who got Glenn's shirt, BUT... does he have a spare? I want to see him in that color again! He looks good!

I like the story about how they started out - that's a new one. Good for them, mixing it up a bit!

I'm so glad you went - not only did you have fun, but we get to enjoy your review and photos!

Did I miss something? When did Glenn give away his shirt?

Great review and gorgeous pictures Jdub. As I've said before, you have a way a pulling me right into your descriptive tales!

ETA: Just came from the Hotness thread and read about Glenn giving his shirt away. That's unbelieveable!!!
