What got to me about that B.B King concert is that after striping the high 'e' string off of Lucille, he let it fall to the floor. He was pretty close to the front of the stage, sitting in a chair playing. I waited until the song was over and then left my seat to go to the front and ask him for the broken string. I got all the way to the second or third row before a guy got up off the end of the first row and beat me to the string! King graciously gave it to him.

Man, I'd have loved to have had that <LOL> I thought about asking him for his amp, but thought it would have been too much trouble to haul out to the car.

Joe takes 28 guitars to every show... Holy shiznit! I only have 25 total!!!! LOL! I'll be getting more in the future. I'm just never gonna stop until I have the biggest guitar collection in the whole world.

He talks about the Eagles tours, what Joe is like, jamming with Joe (the tech is a player himself), the "circle of fear", Joe's guitars (but I wish there would have been more info on this), and the future of music and his other acts he's worked with.
    Cool!

To compare with the current 28 guitars, here's Joe's guitars circa 1980 (Long Run tour)

I caught in that interview that Joe plays all 28 of those guitars in every show! My recollections are from pre-2006 during the Farewell tours and I can remember him seeming to switch between each song and on some songs like "RMW" where he would use more than one. But I know that he used that turquoise Strat more than once during the show...or maybe he had two of them with the same finish.

    A VERY good interview Austin!

You are right, he does switch in RMW to a different guitar. His slide guitar is in Open E tuning, but when he does the Talkbox guitar solo, he needs it to be in Standard, so he switches mid-song.

And he only has the one Turquoise Strat that he used to use constantly. It's a "mongrel", made up of different pieces. The neck is from Performance Guitar company, and the body is a Fender. But I think he's retired it. I now see him with a silver strat and a white strat. All of his Strats have those Lace Sensor "Gold" pickups in them, including the one we are talking about.

I'm watching the Christchurch DVD. A lot of those guitars he has in that picture I put up of the Long Run guitars are played in this DVD. The sunburst Tele, the Goldtop Les Paul with the Bigsby (whammy bar), and a couple others.

He's had the Sunburst Tele since the HC tour when he joined. He used that guitar on the HC tour until HFO and the RRHOF induction. He seems to have retired it. I know he used a Tele on the recording of Hotel California. Since he played it on tour, it makes you wonder if it was the one he recorded his solo on...
