I saw a televised report on him, and that was the most outstanding thing...how identical he sounded to Steve Perry. I had the pleasure of seeing Journey back in the 80's in Buffalo, NY with a long-time friend....they were fabulous. I would consider seeing them now, if the the date/place/price was right.

Okay, so no, there was no Fogarty and he probably was incredible to see live. I guess this concert had a totally different vibe to it, whatever it was, it was a great show, we enjoyed it and I recommend seeing them!

I *did* have the oppertunity to see Journey live and Steve Perry and he was amazing! that was Oregon Jam '82 at the Autzin Stadium, Eugene. We also saw Loverboy, Joan Jett, Blue Oyster Cult, Quiet Riot, Night Ranger (they were AWESOME!!) and Triumph.

I havent heard the new guy for Journey, but I was nuts about Steve Perry. If the new guy sounds like him, I'll probably like him too.

The new singer in Journey sounds EXACTLY like Steve Perry. I saw them in concert last summer and they were terrific.

It's funny you should bring up Loverboy--we were just talking about them the other night. I dug out a Loverboy album and we thoroughly enjoyed hearing it again! They were really great. I also saw them in concert in the mid 80's from the third row (with most of the Notre Dame hockey team, that's a whole other story , who were mostly from Canada also) and they put on a fantastic show back then.

For the record- I have heard the new guy for Journey and he sounds amazing, but to be honest, I don't want to see them because I wouldn't be able to get past the fact that Steve isn't with them and why! I was a huge Steve Perry fan.

Ooh, Loverboy, that does bring back some good memories...though mine do not involve an entire college sports team, unfortunately ! In '84, I drove 18 hours nonstop from Ohio to Florida with my vet school roommate and her boyfriend, singing Loverboy's first 2 albums at top volume to stay awake (with some Cars and ZZ Top thrown in as well.) We three were the only freshman vet students (out of 130!) BRAVE enough to take our winter quarter finals early that March ...just so we could head down to Florida for a nation-wide veterinary student convention (read: professional students' Spring Break--we can party with the best of 'em!) To this day, whenever I hear "Working for the Weekend" or "Turn Me Loose," I still think of that trip with a *smile* !!

For years Tiffanny Twisted and I did not go to concerts. Every extra dollar we had went into our son's education fund. Since he is now a college grad we have started to bust loose.

Starting in the fall of 2006 we started going to concerts again. We went to Vegas and saw Celine Dion, Barry Manilow and Gladys Knight. Two months later we went to see Eric Clapton.

By this time we had seen Farewell I about 50 times and we were chomping at the bit wondering when the Eagles would release their "new album".
In the early spring of 2007 we saw that Don Henley would be appearing at the Borgata Hotel and Casino in Atlantic City. We bought our tickets early (they were a little pricey, but worth it) and sat in row 10 center stage. At the time it was one of the best shows I had ever attended.

Being from the Philadelphia area TT and I are both big Hall and Oates fans. We were fortunate enought to get decent seats for the show in row 12, center stage. Another great show.

Next, for my birthday, TT, knowing what a big Clapton fan I am scored 2 fourth row seats for the show. After seeing Clapton up that close I don't think I will ever be able to equal that experience.

That show was in June of 2007. In November of 2007 we saw John Fogarty, again travelling to the Borgata. 2008 was our year in a lot of ways. The Eagles came to the Philadelphia area not once, not twice but three times! And we went to all three shows and sat in GREAT seats for all three.

The first was July 14, 2008. It was at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia. Not wanting to leave getting a good seat to chance, I ponied up the bucks and bought all access tickets. It was a big dent to teh wallet. However it turned out to be on of the most memorable shows I ever attended. Two encores and over 3 hours. It got out so late I missed the last train out of Philadelphia. TT and I pooled our remaining funds and made an agreement with a cabbie for a ride to Valley Forge at a cost of $75 including tip. It was what I like to call our "excellent concert adventure."

Three nights later we did it again at the Borgata. Getting these tickets was just luck. And a reminder some good can come out of a bad experience. Earlier in the year TT and I had tried to attend the Joe Walsh show at the Borgata. Some ticket sales person put her (TT) on hold and by the time the sales person got back to us the good seats were gone. TT complained to the Borgata management and they asked us what other show we would like to attend. They read us a list that included the Eagles...what, say that again? It had not been announced at the time she complained. We got two seats in row 11 and had a great time I've already documented elsewhere on this site.

It got kind of quiet after that. Then we heard the Eagles were coming back again. We tried to get good tickets again but this tim our luck ran out...or so you would think.

Two weeks before the Nov. 25, 2008 Philadelphia Wachovia concert, we settled in for a quiet night at home. TT suggested we watch Farewell I again. While sitting there, sipping wine and munching cheese, I opened my laptop and checked out Eagles tickets. I got lucky again. The tickets normally reserved for the band and their guests were just released. I got 2 tickets 7th row center stage. This time I drove to the Wachovia to save the $75 cab fare.

Right now we are sitting on 2 Hall and Oates tickets at the Borgata in March of 2009. I am not a millionaire. We decided not to take any vacations while in this concert mode. I must admit it is kind of nice. It is like having a bunch of vacation days spread out through out the year.

These concert experiences led me to the Border when I went web surfing looking for concert reviews. From what I've read a lot of people here are just like us. We're big Eagles fans, but like a lot of you we also like Eric Clapton and John Fogarty. She'll probably kill me for posting this but TT also has a "thing" for Daryl Hall. She's really ino the blonde hair blue-eyed soul thing. I hope I'm not making Messrs Frey, Henley, Schmidt and Walsh jealous by revealing this little tid-bit here.

Great stories, JAHH. I saw Clapton at a charity gig at the Royal Albert Hall in London a few years ago... It was fantastic. Numerous other singers were there too, including Pavarotti. I feel quite privileged to have seen them, especially as the latter is no longer with us. If only Clapton could have been on stage or a bit longer!

I know what you mean about the feeling of taking 'mini vacations' - it's great to have shows to look forward to. I'm going to see The Eagles (for the first time) in July, and I've also got tickets for Jackson Browne in May. On top of that, James Taylor is coming to my home town in June - and I'm still holding out on a Bob Dylan show at the O2. I don't know where all these dates have suddenly come from, but I'm certainly not complaining! 2009 is looking to be a fantastic year, gig-wise.

I know this won't be of interest to many people but after I see Eric Clapton in March we're both going to see Dweezil Zappa play his father's music for the second time. We have second row seats. He is a good guitarist but he isn't his father, that's for sure. Frank was my husband's hero. He has every last thing he ever recorded. I like a lot of it but I steer clear of the really long jazzy stuff.

FP--My son will be very impressed to hear that I know someone who will be seeing Dweezil do his fathers stuff. My son is a huge Frank Zappa fan. I just bought him a piece of Zappa vinyl last week at the record show we went to.

Side note: Dillon has had a poster of Frank Zappa on his wall for years of him setting on the toilet with his pants around his ankles. Both my kids have tried for years to get me to frame that poster and hang it in the bathroom above the toilet.
