Thread: Concerts

Thanks everybody, the concert was frickin amazing! Kansas opened for Jethro Tull, and they both rocked. Kansas sounded perfect, especially their bassist and violinist. They closed with Fight Fire With Fire, and Carry On Wayward Son. Amazing. Then Jethro Tull came on stage about 15 minutes later, and opened with Thick As A Brick. Ian Anderson was so great and really entertaining too! Jethro Tull closed with Locomotive Breath, and that was the best way to end the concert. I was hoping they'd play Teacher, because that's my favorite song of theirs, but they didn't. BUT they did incorporate the guitar riff of that song into Locomotive Breath One thing I found weird about the concert is that neither of them played an encore. Either way, it was a lot of fun. The best part of it though, was that it was my first concert with my dad!
Let's see, I took some photos, but they didn't turn out great... I'll share a few...

I knew you'd enjoy Kansas. They really are more spectacular live than not. Glad you and your Dad enjoyed the show and thanks for sharing your pics.

Just out of curiosity, why didn't it go well then?

According to various interviews, Jethro Tull's audience wasn't very receptive to the then-relatively-unknown Eagles, and the band members themselves were rude and dismissive towards the Eagles.

JT's music and the Eagles music was/is so different. It's strange to think they would play to the same crowd. It's kind of strange booking them together, to me.

Glad you enjoyed the show EF. I have seen Kansas a couple of times (I think... some of my old concert experiences are a bit of a blur. ) Most recently I saw them at the Decatur Celebration a few years ago. Boy, were they loud! That was an outdoor concert but my ears rang the rest of the night and then everything sounded muffled for a few hours. I'm sure my concert-going experiences have effected my hearing!

Kansas... will see them on Friday Very busy the next two months. On Friday Foreigner/Journey/Kansas/Night Ranger, on June 21 Elton John, June 28 our boys , July 1 Saga and in July I will start my trip through Germany to see Toto 3 times, one show with VIP-Ticket. I already met Steve Lukather 2 times personally, he's awesome. And now I'll get to meet the whole band, really looking forward to that
