Thanks tlr. I remember watching Gunsmoke all the time when I was young. Matt Dillon was one of my western heroes. My thoughts are with his family and friends.

This saddens me. What a great actor he was on many levels.

BTW--our son was named after his character in Gunsmoke, thanks to my SIL who is a huge fan of Gunsmoke. She told us that if we didn't call him either Dillon or Marshall, she would call him Festus (also from Gunsmoke) for the rest of his life.

Nope-he was going to be Gage until we saw Pet Cemetery while I was pregnant and then we didn't know. When SIL joked about calling him Festus if we didn't name him Dillon, Larry & I looked at each other and said, "that's it!".

Too funny, Willie! I kinda like Festus though!

RIP. I remember the show, too.
