Thanks FP. Yeah, GAN did tell me a bit about Eva Cassidy. Very sad. On another note, I had a HUGE crush on David Cassidy back around the same time as you mentioned!!!

Also, I never knew Randy Newman did a version of "Mama Told Me Not To Come". I'm going to have to look for that!!! I like Randy Newman. Especially "I Love LA".

Randy Newman wrote Mama Told Me Not To Come. You can get it on Lonely At The Top, which is a compilation.

I Love LA is on Trouble In Paradise which is a great album. The best is Little Criminals on which four out of the five Eagles in 1978 appear. Glenn's harmony singing on Baltimore & Glenn & Don (both with Souther) on Rider In The Rain are worth the price of admission. Glenn also plays lead guitar on Baltimore & Short People & sings on Short People.

Wow! See? Now that was something I never knew! I only ever heard Three Dog Night's version, and assumed they had written it (or somebody wrote it for them). Which, in this case, did Randy Newman write it for them, or did they just do a version? Do you know? Either way, I've gotta get my hands on it because I love it, and I love Randy Newman's voice.

I also did not know that about the Randy Newman/Eagles association. Let me guess, the four out of five Eagles were: Don Henley, Glenn Frey, Don Felder and Joe Walsh. Or, am I wrong and Randy did that with them? Now, I want to hear all that stuff too! I'm also going to have to listen more closely to Short People.

Thanks for the info FP!! I always like learning new stuff about the music that I like!

Randy wrote the song & Three Dog Night had a hit with it. They were notorious for not writing their hits.

You got the Eagles who are on Little Criminals correct. There are other examples. Glenn sings on Rednecks (from Good Old Boys). Don is on Take Me Back & Christmas in Capetown (from Trouble In Paradise). I also think Soda would want me to mention that Lindsey Buckingham & Christine McVie are on I Love LA. Can I also mention that another of my heroes, Mark Knopfler, produced most of Land Of Dreams & plays on the tracks he produced.

Don sings the role of Faust on Newman's concept album of the same name, along with a host of other stars (James Taylor as God) and frankly I don't recommend it.

Newman is one of THE great songwriters. I cite two examples - Sail Away, which describes a slave trader luring Africans to America, and God's Song, where God ruminates on why the world continues to worship him even when their lives are hard. Also Political Science which Don has sung ('let's drop the big one & see what happens').

I love all those songs, Marco! You a Sarah McLachlan fan too, I see. My favorites of hers are Hold On, Possession, The Path of Thorns, Full of Grace, and Worlds on Fire.
