We call it "Take a Rest After Christmas Day." lol
Seriously, for whatever reason, there's no special designation for the day after Christmas in the States.
Great name Soda! And soooo true!

In fact, for most people in the states, it's back to work the day after Christmas. This year however, I have a week's vacation starting the 26th through the 1st.

And I dream I'm on vacation 'Cause I like the way that sounds,
It's a perfect occupation for me.
Most Irish will take Christmas Day and the 26th off. Because Christmas day falls on a Sunday, Tuesday 27th will be a day off in lieu, so offices, businesses etc probably won't open till Wednesday 28th. However the Emergency services and Hospitals will run as Normal over the holiday. many retail outlets tend to reopen on the 26th now as well, although this trend has only come in the last 10 years or so. Schools will close on 22nd December and reopen on 9th January 2012.
However we Don't have a thanksgiving so this is our Winter Holiday.

Yes, since Christmas falls on a Sunday this year, banks and federal offices will be closed on Monday, but stores will reopen on Monday.

What about Christmas bath towels, shower curtain, etc...How many have that kind of decorations?

"For the record, we never broke up, we just took a 14-year vacation!"

We just put up the tree last night.
As far as Christmas plans - we have a dinner here at the house with my mom's dad (my grandpa) with my parents and I on Christmas Eve. He and my grandma are divorced so obviously we do a separate day with him. Then on Christmas Day we have lunch (me, my mom, and my dad) together and open gifts and all of that. Then on Christmas Day evening we go to a town nearby to my grandma/step grandpa's for a big dinner with my mom's entire family. And that is about it. Then we gear up for our big New Years Eve party and get food purchased. We watch movies and eat junk food.
My fond nickname for it is "thank goodness that's over with!".
We put up the tree last night. Here's a picture but it was hard to get a good one. It's my mother's slim tree this year with her favorite angel tree topper and her beloved German glass ornaments (except the pickle--couldn't find the pickle-don't know where it is and will have to go buy a new one-can't have a Mom tree without the German Christmas pickle). She collected the glass ornaments for years. My purple lights (had to have my purple lights). Don't know if we'll go back to my big tree and purple decorations next year or not but I just felt I had to do this this year. This was my Mom's favorite holiday and she'd be glad I did this. Especially since I've always been the scrooge of the family. In fact we figured that's the reason she put in her will that I inherited ALL the Christmas decorations (and there were lots and lots of them!). Her little way of saying to me, "get in the spirit of it already!!!".
