This is such a tragedy to loose another amazingly talented superstar at such a young age. Even though the toxology reports aren't in yet, I don't think there is much doubt that her addiction contributed to her premature death. No matter how many how many people we lose to this disease, we don't seem to be making any headway in getting through to others who are suffering from it. My heart bleeds for her young daughter.

    R.I.P. Whitney.

Whitney's funeral was today. I didn't watch it, but I have been checking out clips online. It seems like it was a beautiful service. Despite all the problems she had in later life, I think she deserved such a lovely send-off. She brought a lot of people a lot of happiness. I wish she had found more for herself.

I recorded it but I just don't think I can watch it. I did read about it and saw a couple of clips online and it seemed very moving. I feel so sorry for her daughter and Mom. I lost it just watching a short clip of them taking her out while "I Will Always Love You" played. I also watched Kevin Costner's part.......very moving as well. Such a loss.....words can't quite express it.

I watch part of the memorial service, but not all of it. I did see Kevin Costner though and he was absolutely wonderful. I was moved to tears.

I stopped after a couple clips as well - I stopped after Kevin Costner's made me cry. I'm watching The Bodyguard right now.

This is the first time a musician that meant a lot to me has died. Yeah, Michael Jackson made good music, but I connected more with Whitney's music. Her debut album was the first cassette tape I ever bought. It hits hard.

Soda I feel exactly the same way. It was sad when MJ died and so many others, but I felt like my heart literally broke when I heard about Whitney. She has been my favorite female vocalist for a long time but even more than that.....she just meant a lot to me. I was trying to explain it to a co-worker of mine and he just didn't understand. I don't blame him I guess, I can't find the words to truly express the heartache over someone I never actually knew but felt as if I did. My heart breaks for her daughter. Every interview I ever heard or read, it seemed as if they were so close. I know what it's like to lose a Mother that is your best friend. But I was blessed in that I had siblings that I was very close with. She has her Grandmother and I pray she has her for a long time. 18 is way too young to lose your Mother, 48 is way too young to lose your life.

We watched the Bodyguard tonight as well and I cried when the last part began with her singing I Will Always Love You of course.

I sat and watched the entire service. It was all very touching though I was especially moved by Clive Davis' and Keven Costner's speeches (those last few lines that he spoke in particular made me really tear up). I thought it was a very personal service in spite of all the media hoopla and the celebrities and I appreciate the fact that the family was willing to stream it for the public to see. I just pray that Whitney has found the peace that seemed to so often elude her in life.

I watched off and on and was especially moved by Kevin Costner's touching tribute. He wore his emotions on his sleeve and it was obvious he was deeply touched by Whitney's passing. The thing that really hit me hard was when the pallbearers hoisting the casket onto their shoulders. I couldn't help myself...I lost it.

I too watched The Bodyguard lastight and kept thinking that she will be forever in our hearts and memories. Costner was right when he said there was nobody else who could have played Rachel Marron.

I watched part of the service, but I had to leave. It was very moving & Whitney Houston had many people who loved her, but I have to ask where were all these people when it was so obvious that she had drug problems for about 20 years? Why didn't any of them try to get her in rehab? They all claimed they cared & loved her, but it's hard to believe that they didn't know about her drug use. It was obvious. There were times when she looked in very bad shape.
It's very sad because she had so much talent, & a beautiful daughter. She could have gone on to make more beautiful music or live a life in luxury if she chose to retire. Her mistake was falling in love with the wrong man. Gone much too soon. RIP Whitney.

Well, TK from what I've been hearing this week with all the news coverage Whitney's death has received, there were many past attempts at intervention by others on Whitney's behalf. She also, undoubtedly, surrounded herself with many enablers though. She had been in and out of rehab several times in the last few years, but, obviously, she was unable to stick with it. As someone with a brother who is an addict, I know for a fact that there is only so much that others can do though - ultimately, recovery it is up to the addict.

I also don't understand why so many people are quick to point the finger at Bobby Brown for Whitney's troubles. There have been many of her friends that have spoken out this week to say that her involvement with drugs started well before she even met Bobby.

But, in any event, I do agree that this is all very sad.
