Memories of MY 1ST EAGLES SHOW
The day had finally arrived. I was so excited. After being an Eagles fan for years I was actually going to see them live. Also I was going to see my darling Will in the flesh(so to speak) .
I picked up my friend & drove us the 120 or so miles to the O2 Arena.
We had 5 Star VIP tickets so we arrived at 5pm for the pre-show party.
We sat with 2 ladies, mother & daughter who had come over from the USA to see Thursday & Saturdays shows. We exchanged email addresses. The daughter was Phyl who is now my very good friend and we have seen many Eagles shows together since then.
Our seats were in the middle block 3rd row from the stage.
The house lights went down and the support band came onto the stage. Will stood by his keyboard for a few moments before sitting. My eyes were glued to him. I was no longer a ‘Will Hollis virgin’ – and he didn’t disappoint.
Then the Eagles ran on from back left stage playing the opening bars of ‘How Long’. I was no longer an ‘Eagles virgin’ – and they didn’t disappoint either!
When they returned after taking a short break I noticed that Will was sitting at the piano. I was ecstatic – they then sang No More Walks & Waiting in the Weeds.
I clapped and cheered every song. I sang along, I stood up & danced. I think I must have been smiling no stop for the whole 3 hours.
I made eye contact with Will a few times and was treated to his amazing stare 2 or 3 times.
Security didn’t stop us from taking photos, so I captured some special memories of my 1st Eagles show.
Of course, the 3 hours seemed to pass so quickly & they’d reached Desperado.
I think I floated out of the Arena on a cloud with the number 9 written on it.
It was an amazing and very special evening. It’s said that you never forget your 1st time.......I certainly won’t forget mine!
