Happy Birthday to After Hours!
I was very skeptical when I heard this was coming out because it's not really my kind of music either. But after listening to it a few times, it really grew on me and now I love it! I wish I could have gone to one of his shows for it.

1948-2016 Gone but not forgotten
I was very moved when I learned that Glenn's parents were the inspiration for the album. I doubt I would have liked it if he released it in the 70s. Now that I am, ahem, a bit older (and wiser!) I really do appreciate the music. Glenn's vocals are just wonderful.
I listen to a radio show in NY every Saturday night. The host just played Caroline No by Glenn. It is the 50th anniversary of Pet Sounds this week.
I'm on a hunt for something, and came across something I don't remember reading before. The stories are similar to those he told throughout his promotion of the album but with slightly more detail. In one video interview, he sounded like he really got a kick out of being interviewed for Jazz magazines.
I love this comment from that interview:
“How serendipitous is that,” says Frey, concluding that, “the greatest two days in the entire process were getting to sit in the control room and watch 22 string players and a couple of flutes and French horns lift my songs to heaven. At the end of the second day, I addressed the orchestra and said, ‘What you’ve done to this material is beyond my wildest dreams. I’ve been a rock ’n’ roll star for most of my adult life, but today I am a musician.’"
Aww, I love that too!!!

"So often times it happens that we live our lives in chains and we never even know we have the key."
What a most beautiful quote. And how gracious was he to the orchestra that made it happen
'I must be leaving soon... its your world now'
Glenn Frey 1948-2016 RIP
Happy 5th Birthday to After Hours. So sad that this would be Glenn's last solo album.
Brothers for life. RIP Glenn
I'm not sure I believe in fate, but I know that crossing paths with Glenn Lewis Frey in 1970 changed my life forever, and it eventually had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet. It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it. But, I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some." -Don Henley
