I didn't know he came out of retirement to record Long Road Out of Eden
Well, I never thought of looking in the album liner notes either, so thanks again for solving our mystery, SS that 7th person at Joshua Tree was John Barrick.
After reading this, I actually did a web search to see if I could find out more information about him. There isn't much out there, but I did find this in an online preview of Marc Eliot's To the Limit book ...

If you scroll down past Page 118, there are some pictures that Henry Diltz took. According to the caption, the 7th picture has John Barrick in it. However, the caption also says that John Barrick's early death inspired the song The Sad Café. Now, I read To the Limit several years ago, but that detail totally escaped me until now. Very interesting stuff to me and I guess I need to go back and reread some of those Eagles' books.

There's a radio interview from 1979/80 where Glenn talks about John Barrick and how Glenn would pick his brains about what went wrong with The Byrds and receive free drinks. John Barrick also gave Glenn good advice when he was wound up after a bad press interview along the lines of "You lick the stamp because you want to send the letter, not because you like the taste of the glue".
As most of you know, Alex Gibney produced the doc. He has a new film coming out about Lance Armstrong that looks really good. At noon (I presume EST, which in only about 20 minutes from now) Deadspin.com will be chatting with Gibney about the new picture, if anyone is interested. I don't know if I will make the chat, but will definitely see the film.

Thanks for the info on John Barrick, UTW. Does anyone know the cause of his death? Just interested.
And MC, thanks for those links. Since I am just getting around to seeing your post, I, obviously, didn't hear the chat. Apparently, Alex has a lot of respect among the Hollywood insiders, huh?

I am proud to say that I have now watched HOTE 50 times and every time I watch it I see more and more talent and awesomeness. This Doc is what got my Eagles obsession started. The first time I saw it I immediately knew this was the best band ever and they're a million times better than a lot of today's pop music that all my friends listen to.
People talking about us they got nothing else to do. When it all comes down we will still come through in the long run.
Well you all certainly won't get any argument from me about this. Each one that was ever a member of this band is so uniquely talented in their own way. It's no wonder that they achieved greatness - how could they not?
