I must say I really love 'My Buddy' too. Not one of my top faves, but definitely one that I like. I too had heard that it was a War Song I think from WW1. I love the jauntyy syncopated start of it, and the genuine sense of noiostalgia and regret for times past. I'm not ready for it to go yet, and in an effort to save it, I think I will vote for 'I'm getting old before my time'. It was my second least favourite anyway and I always feel that there is a very depressive tone in it. The idea of waiting around until yopu have a 'crutch and a cane' before somebody will commit to you doesn't appeal to me either.

I missed the first round so I'll choose what I would've chosen then: I'm Getting Old Before My Time. My dad used to play My Buddy on some old records he had so I feel a certain affection for that song.

Last night I was out longer than I thought I would be & missed voting the last round. Oh well, it didn't really matter as I had decided to vote for Same Girl. However, now I am in a dilema as to what song to vote off this round! I'll make sure I don't miss the next vote.

The After Hours CD is not meant to be a remake of Glenn's older songs apart from the title track which had never been officially recorded. How would SB have fit in with the other songs? He has been doing that rearrangement for several years, and it is not 'jazz', it is more like R&B/blues. As for The Heat Is On he reworked that for the tour. It is just a bit of fun, unlike the majority of the After Hours album. I hope that he will continue to play the revamped Heat Is On but I don't expect him to ever record it.
