    Default James Gang song "Collage"

I did a search and couldn't find any threads about this song, but it deserves one!! How was this song not a classic!? I am blown away at this masterpiece! I think this song is right up there with my favorite Eagles song.

The lyrics are awesome and the music is so perfect and beautiful and powerful and amazing!! Does anyone else love this song as much as I do?! lol

Oh, I love it too! I think it's a wonderful example of Joe being more creative and poetic in his songwriting. He talks in the documentary about how he was "in awe" of Don and Glenn because he could never write songs like they did, but I think songs like "Collage" show that he can.

I agree! And even with some of his other songs, I think Turn To Stone is just as good as my favorite Eagles songs. But i'm glad he was humble though!

Collage! Love this song so much I quoted it in my signature. Such wonderful lyrics from such a young man. The last verse is the one that really gets me.

"Autumn calls for a change of year, bringing winter near us
Green to brown and the sky's a sign
Wintertime is a razor blade that the devil made
It's the price we pay for the summertime
Spring days come, it's hard to know
Where the rain comes from, where the children go
    It's a nursery rhyme
    Nursery rhyme"

Most universal lyrics ever. Everyone can relate. Beautiful poetry!

Agreed MV. Joe has written some really insightful lyrics, although he is very self-effacing about his songwriting talent.

Yes sodascouts, I agree. Like you said above, he thought he was less then Frey & Henley when it came to songwriting. Since I'm primarily a fan of his & the Eagles 2nd, it made me very sad at first when I heard this. That documentary really made him human. You finally understood that so much of Joe's shenanigans was a cover-up for his insecurity. Kinda like, um, so many people I've known my whole life. We all know someone like that. In some ways I'm sorry to see that during the current tour Glenn is still kinda introducing him as the chainsaw wielding maniac that he was. I guess it's better to be introduced that way then to still be wrecking havoc!
