Have been a little-okay a LOT stressed.
My hubby's drinking is/was out of control. On our Nov 11th 25th anniversary, we went to a nice hotel and casino and he drank himself to sleep. Happy Anniversary to me.So he has vowed to not drink again and he hasn't since but his moods have been really strange and I don't know how do deal with it. I am going to start going to Al-Anon meetings with a friend from work but the last 3 meetings something has happened that I haven't been able to go. He is also overweight and is "dieting" every other day. He fails at that so he is always down on himself and that extends to me too. I don't know what to do to help or how to make things better.
Work has been really stressful-our principal is wigging out on kids using the internet to search for answers and has been randomly running histories on the kids and what was once acceptable is now not. Used to be the kids could play cool math if they got to a point that they had finished some work or were waiting for help-now that is an unapproved site?He says we may have to re-evaluate using APEX an online curriculum method but I don't think he has thought that through because we would not be able to offer any electives and right now my classes could have any one of 12 subject matters in one class period. If he gets rid of APEX and wants me to teach in lecture format, I will ask to have pure classes like the English teacher and science teacher. Technically it would be better for me but not so much for my students. I can through packets and vocabulary worksheets together with the best of them but we would lose anything good we had for the students.
My mother who is 78 and has COPD and emphysema is in the hospital again and could die. We have been to this point before a couple years ago where the doctors told the family to expect the worse so I have made my peace with it-but my mother and I have never had the best relationship so I haven't been to see her much and my brothers and sisters are kind of mad at me for not going. I have talked to her several times on the phone but none of the visits have been good. She is my mother and I love her but this is hard.
My Crohn's has been bad and I ended up in the ER on my birthday. Luckily I didn't have pancreatitis so I wasn't admitted, just had several rounds of IV pain medicine. The Doc then prescribed a different pain med that I could "stack" with my regular pain med but the only pharmacy open at 4 AM was Walgreens and the pharmacist didn't like that I was already taking pain meds so he limited what I could get...like it is any of his business. Sometimes I wish I could pass the pain on to people like that so they could see that it is harder some days than others.
To all that end, I have missed some work and am getting behind in my student loans and they call 3-4 times a day.
I have been wallowing in self-pity and need to stop it. SO starting today, I am trying to be more positive and fix what I can fix and pray about everything else.
I am thankful for this forum that allows me to read about my favorite band and forget all the crappy things for a while.
