What's Happening In Your Life?

Weird day at work today. Watching a good many of my co-workers walk out the door due to the government shut down. After the furloughs of the summer, they now have no idea when they'll get their next paycheck.

It's horrible here as well. The fiance got furloughed today and he's rather cranky.

Are you getting furloughed at all?

I heard about these problems this morning and I sincerely hope that none of my Border friends or their families are affected too much by this. A day off is always welcome but not in this uncertainty. Are teachers effected?

It's 'non-essential' federal government workers. Nearly all our teachers who don't teach for private schools are employed at the state and/or county levels.

Fortunately, I'm a contractor on a fully-funded contract, so it's just us and the active military at the office.

Got back yesterday from Cape May. Went for 5 days with hubby to celebrate our 30th anniversary. It was so nice to get away. I hope no borderers are affected by the shut down.

SallyGee - How was Cape May? I have always wanted to go there and see the Victorian houses. The town and the houses in photos that I have seen look beautiful! And BTW, Happy Anniversary! 30 years ~ that is a wonderful accomplishment in this age!! Here's to many, many more happy years!

Not here so far at the elementary/HS level...I have heard concerns for Head Start (preschool) classes though...and IIRC school lunches are funded *through* October...not that I'd want to miss those anyway lately, if I were a kid
