I found this old Billboard article about Randy that touches on the financial issues with his record company. This may explain why he didn't make any music videos for his 1982 album.

Meisner doesn't receive tour support, but he remains active on the road, having played 50 dates in the last three months.
"Companies these days either don't have the money or are afraid to take the risk," Meisner says. "You've got to grab the bull by the horns and do it yourself."
The article goes on to say that the band members do everything themselves--production, carrying equipment, etc. and they stay in $40 a night motels.

"Meisner Hits the Road Via a Lean Tour Machine" Billboard, January 8, 1983

Wow, I'm sure that was a big difference from his Eagles days. Way to persevere Randy!

Fantastic article, very enlightening. Thank you, Lady D! Girl, you got skillz.

Delilah, can you/do you search Billboard specifically? I've been looking for an article or item about the 1986 Black Tie tour. It would have been in the first half of the year. Supposedly Bernie Leadon joined them on some dates, according to a guy who wrote the bio on the band Bread.

That's sweet of you to say, NMB. I found this article a while back but when I tried to retrieve it from my file, it somehow got deleted.

So to answer your question, I had a hard time when searching for it again. I tried it with Billboard as a search term but no luck. I didn't go into the Billboard website itself. Fortunately, I was able to go into a deleted folder and get it back (--why didn't I think of that before!).

Ok, NMB, just for you...and me and all other curious fans...hopefully this is what you're looking for.

Some weeks ago, in this column, we talked about seeing a group called Black Tie at a local Los Angeles nightclub. The group's focal members were Billy Swan, Randy Meisner, Jimmy Griffin and Bernie Leadon. That's a lot of talent, considering that Meisner and Leadon were members of the Eagles, Griffin was a key member of Bread, and Swan's "I Can Help" has become a classic radio oldie.
Well, Black Tie turned up on our doorstep on a snowy winter night a couple of weeks ago in a distressingly underpublicized showcase. Despite the lack of advance notice, however, the club was almost full, and those who braved the weather saw a high-velocity performance combining three of the industry's finest vocal talents. This time around, Leadon had been replaced by ex-Beach Boy Blondie Chaplin, who added a somewhat tougher edge to the instrumentation; otherwise the set was similar to the one we saw on L.A.
