Don Felder co-writes song with Sarah McLachlan

First off, I have to say that Sarah McLachlan is one of my favorite singer/songwriters EVER, so I think this is amazingly cool!

Don co-wrote the song "Turn the Lights Down Low" with her. Today, he posted a link to hear a sample:

My knowledge of artists and bands is rather limited. I know only a few (and I know them well). So I must confess that I've never even heard of Sarah McLachlan. Which songs should I check out first? (Maybe this thread isn't the right place to ask this...)

Chaim, she is a Canadian singer-songwriter who was pretty popular in the mid-late 90s here in the US.

I would say to listen to the song "Possession" - probably her best and most famous. (She included in the lyrics some lines written to her by a stalker in a letter, and then he tried to sue her for copyright infringement! ("And I would be the one to hold you down, kiss you so hard, I'll take your breath away.") Both albums Fumbling Towards Ecstasy and Surfacing - all of the songs are good.

Agree it is an interesting collaboration - I think these artists meet at industry events, get along well while they're cocktailing, and decide to do a "project" together!

She does have a beautiful voice. I loved the song Angel from the movie City of Angels. Brings me to tears every time I hear it.

Don mentioned Sarah in an interview last year. He said Sarah and him had written a song together at his house but didn’t give many details about the collaboration.

I love Sarah. She really has a beautiful voice and is a talented songwriter. I’m looking forward to hearing the whole song!
