Do Something
Shoot, somehow I forgot to vote in the last round
Anyway, here we go again, OL' 55

You can't change the world but you can change yourself.
As I've given, After The Thrill Is Gone immunity, (I voted for it in the last round) I have a choice to make. It's either Doolin-Dalton/Desperado Reprise or Do Something.
I love the bridge (Run away....) in Do Something, I think it's up there with the finest music the eagles have created but taking the whole song, I don't like words, I don't like the sentiment or Tim's delivery, the (non) tempo or the M.O.R. country music arrangement.
How can a country ballad musically' have a "get off your arse and Do Something" lyric. I wince at the line "I pick up the morning paper, all the news is bad", it's awfulness drags the song down even more. My... I wonder why I haven't voted for it sooner!
The issue I have with Doolin-Dalton/Desperado reprise is that, I don't see it as a proper song. As I've said before, I first heard this track, as it was originally performed, live during the 70s, as part of an extended piece that began with the album opening, Doolin-Dalton track. I feel like I've missed half (probably more like a third) of the track when Don sings "Well the stage was set...".
Almost unbelievably for the Eagles, I don't like the backing vocals on Doolin-Dalton. Fabulous on Desperado reprise, unwanted on Doolin-Dalton. They are different songs aren't they? Enjoyable track otherwise.
This round I vote for Doolin-Dalton/Desperado Reprise
For me, once again this round it is between LROOE and TSC. And again, I have to say that LROOE is less underrated than TSC.
So I vote for Long Road Out of Eden to take the short road out of this survivor game.
I decided to wait before submitting my vote for this round but I think I'll go, yet again, for Ol'55. I did consider changing my vote but I think it will probably go this time round, and I wouldn't want to leave songs I love dearly like the Doolin-Dalton/Desperado Reprise or The Sad Café at greater risk of elimination by changing my vote now.
I was tempted to vote for Do Something though - as much as I like it, I don't think it would be as worthy a winner as most of the others remaining.
