Soda, I noticed Glenn's shirt as well. Can anyone tell what it says under Alex's name?

Thanks so much for your post, rockretro1. It’s nice hearing from someone who was there. And thank you for taking these great photos!

ETG, based on what bobinpcola said upthread, I believe his shirt says “Alex Karras Blues Band”

"Mongo only pawn in game of life." Quote from Alex Karras' character Mongo in Blazing Saddles.

Wow - I had never even noticed Glenn's shirt. It's a good thing I have Border friends with 'Eagle' eyes!

As we all know, Glenn was a big football/sports fan. Alex Karras was an announcer for "Monday Night Football" at that time. Also, he played for the Detroit Lions for many years, which was Glenn's favorite football team. I bet Glenn was probably happy to meet him back than. Like I said earlier, boy do I wish there was youtube footage of that show. Thanks for posting the photo.

I actually recognized him as the dad from Webster. Does anybody else remember that show?

Not surprised that Glenn was an Alex Karras fan since he was one of the dominant defensive players in the NFL in the 60's. He was probably the premier sports figure in Detroit during that decade. He made the Pro Bowl multiple times and later went on to become an NFL Hall of Fame inductee, so I can definitely see Glenn being starstruck.

Thanks, Delilah; I guess I should have delved deeper into the thread.
