Curious if anyone knows who would have been the opening act for the Eagles on the Long Run Tour in 1979? Specifically the shows in Ann Arbor, MI? -- Thanks!

Thanks! I was thinking the same thing and was suprised that there was one as well.. But the pictures indicate otherwise... I'm thinking it must have been a very "local" band.![]()
I saw the band for this tour in Pennsylvania. They did have an opening act. It wasn't exactly a local band, but it wasn't a popular one. I believe Richard Bowden, long time friend of Don Henley's was a singer/guitarist, but I can't recall the name. For this tour, or at least for the leg of it that I saw, the Eagles didn't play a very long set so there was time for an opening act.
Great lead ! Thanks! Based on the Richard Bowden suggestion, I think it was Blue Steel. I got the following from a quick google search.
"In 1978, Bowden started another band, called Blue Steel, and released No More Lonely Nights on Infinity Records. While on tour with the Eagles, the label went out of business, causing him to rebuild the band and shop for another deal, which he secured with Electra Records. However, after recording Nothing but Time, the band broke up."
That was definitely it....Blue Steel! I think they had recorded an album for MCA if my memory is correct. I think Infinity had distribution through MCA at the time. They were actually pretty good, but very unsuccessful.
wasn't Bowden in Shiloh?
They will never forget you til somebody new comes along
