    Default America

Probably a page on them already but got to know who likes America or not, just thought they were for awhile kinda contemporaries for the Eagles. I'm not crazy about them but I loved Dan Peek's contributions and thought they were a very talented band.

There isn't a page on them already, so this is fine.

I like "Sister Golden Hair." They also did "Horse with No Name" right?

Yes, they did Horse With No Name. I have their greatest hits on cd. I enjoy their 4 hits, Tin Man, Ventura Highway, Sister Golden Hair, and Horse With No Name. I haven't dived any further into their music, though.

I've always enjoyed their music. My husband and I went to a very small venue a few years ago and saw them. They met with fans afterwards and I got autographs and pics with the two remaining original members. I probably posted a pic somewhere here!

Sister Golden Hair is my favorite song of theirs. Even though I love the song, it reminds me of one of my husband's old girlfriends as she had the most beautiful long golden hair!

I saw them in concert last month and caught a Dewey Bunnell guitar pick! It has his name on it 'n everything I still carry it in my purse.

The concert was great, but unfortunately Gerry's voice is gone. Dewey sounds the same. They have two young musicians playing with them, on lead guitar and drums, who are excellent and high-energy. I particularly enjoyed the drummer, Ryland Steen, who was previously with Reel Big Fish.

I recently bought Dan Peek's autobiography and want to get started on it real soon.

I was thinking about buying Dan Peek's book too see if it's a good read. They seem to be a bit more folky while the Eagles were more country.

But Sister Golden Hair is also my favourite and can play it too; Love the mellow sound of it. I though Dan peek's songs were generally the best with Today's the Day and Dont cross the river

I like Don't Cross the River - another Eagles link: that's Henry Diltz on banjo, he photographed the Eagles quite a bit in their early years, most notably perhaps for the debut album.

America closes the show with "Sister Golden Hair" - they turn up the house lights and turn it into a big, rousing sing-a-long.

Saw America last summer. They played a local casino.

Do you have a 12-string guitar? I want to get one really bad, but I'm guilt-tripping myself over spending that kind of money.
