A little defense for "Chug All Night" - yes, it's shallow, but it's really energetic. Listen to that guitar! It rocks! I really like the "wired for sound / wired for light" bit, too. A real rocker.

Had to pull out the cd to get a refresher, it's been a while listening to the entire album. Nothing totally unlistenable on it, there's lots of different influences going on, everyone's got lead vocals kind of equally, with different styles.
I'm voting for Most of Us are Sad. It's just not one that works for me.

I'm voting for: Chug all Night

I don't think it's a bad song, but it's my least favourite on the album. The lyrics seem trite, and 'chug all night' as the definitive phrase and reference to (I presume) sex seems a bit unimpressive to me. I like the guitar.

Had to listen through the album, and it came down to Earlybird and Most of Us Are Sad.

I don't like the intro to Earlybird with the whistling and I don't like the banjos and the drums in this song. The overall song isn't that appealing to me.

Most of Us Are Sad is a slow song, and I tend to like more energetic songs. It just comes off as dull to me.

This is going to depend on what I'm doing. Since I'm studying MicroEcon, I'm voting for Earlybird. Most of Us Are Sad is soothing which is great for studying, but if I was driving and listening to this whole LP, then I would have picked that one. In general, Earlybird is my least favorite, and I'm not sure if I would have pushed skip on it. I probably would have. I'll probably be more positive about the songs when we get through halfway through this game.

I like them all, which makes it hard to choose. I like the youthful exhuberance of "Chug All Night". "Most of Us Are Sad" is sweet with nice hamonies. "Take the Devil" is one of favourites.

I'm choosing Earlybird. Even with this, I like the battle between banjo and slide guitar.

I like the spacey bridge too, "No woman ever do what you do, high on a pleasure wheel..." Maybe it's just me, but I think of Chug as a kind of foreshadowing of "Good Day in Hell." But that was before I read (on these forums) that the latter song is actually a metaphor for drug addiction.

Anyway, my vote is for "Train Leaves Here This Morning." It's just too low energy compared to everything else on the album.

For me the choice is between Earlybird and Take the Devil. I agree with Henley that the chirping sounds on Earlybird are a bit corny, but I like the banjo. I'll vote for Take the Devil this round.

I'm surprised by the response to Nightingale. It is certainly not my favorite on the album, but IMO it's far from the worst song on the album.

I love Nightingale. Something about it always makes me feel happy after listening to it. It's a fun song!

    I'm voting for Earlybird.
People talking about us they got nothing else to do. When it all comes down we will still come through in the long run.
