"Be part of something good--
Leave something good behind."
Austin, my prayers are with you.
I'm sorry to hear that, Austin. I'm praying for you!
Thanks everyone.
Well, next to finals, this is the most hellacious time of year for me: midterms. I've finally gotten through three of my classes in terms of grading, but I have two classes left to go before noon on Friday (62 papers). One BIG complication, though - I am presenting at a conference on Saturday.
And I haven't started my paper for it yet. I've just written the abstract.
So.... yeah... it's been a stressful week... and it's going to be a very stressful Thursday, Friday, and Saturday morning....
Soda - Good luck with the papers and the conference. Hope all goes well for you.

Hey everyone!
I wanted to share something with you that I'm really proud of.
So I wrote a novel about the Syrian Civil War 2 years ago. I have done some lectures about the book in libraries, but recently I have done a lecture at the university which was about the period in history after the Cold War, so the period we're living in now. I have focused on two particular events: the Arabian Spring and America's War on Terror, but I've discussed global warming, the EU and social media as well. My reason to do this is that we didn't learn about these things at school. The history books just kind of stop after the Cold War or tell only about the European "unification". So I think it's a good thing to discuss these events. Furthermore, I have noticed that we here in Western Europe look at the world in a particular way, and it is not necessarily always the truth. For example, most politicians here have an anti-Russian attitude, and although this is partially justified, Russia can't do anything but evil in their eyes.
Wait, I'll send you a link to two of the four videos that I have uploaded so far. I hope the channel can grow a bit, because I like to do these things, and it is line with the political science study that I want to start with next year.
Also, I have some other great news. I will go to the concert that the Eagles play in the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam at 3 June. It will be the first concert that I will ever attend and I'm very excited to see my favourite band play live finally.

Glenn: Good evening, we're the Eagles from Los Angeles...
Joe: Hey tell you what, if you got firecrackers, save 'em until you get home, lock yourself in the closet and light everything you got okay?
Glenn: ... Thank you Joe!
