Default Joe Plays in Surrey on NYE as part of Totally Abandoned

Got this in a Yahoo alert:

    http://www.undercover.com.au/News-Story.aspx?id=3778

Ringo Starr, Eric Clapton, Joe Walsh, Pete Townshend Are Totally Abandoned

    by Paul Cashmere - January 5 2008

    Here's an excerpt:

"A band calling themselves Totally Abandoned, featuring Pete Townshend of The Who, Joe Walsh of the Eagles, Ringo Starr of The Beatles and Eric Clapton, boss of Heaven, performed [...] to a small VIP crowd at a secret charity gig in Surrey. The set is said to have been one long jam session. London's Independent newspaper reports that the band played a lot of "old classics" but did not name them."

Joe and Pete Townsend? Interesting. I find Townsend so pompous and humourless. He would have had to lighten up somewhat to play with Joe and Ringo (and yes, I do know he had Keith Moon to put up with all those years).

Thanks for posting that, Soda. Wow - that's some band. I would love to get my hands on that setlist.

Theo posted this link on the EOC blog - it's a video someone did in honor of "Totally Abandoned":

WOW! I wish I had been there. It sounds like it is an annual event although maybe not with so many famous names as this year. How cool.

    Sea Cruise. Good grief.

A Whiter Shade Of Pale would have been awesome. I wonder who sang it? If you think about it Joe doesn't sound that different from Gary Brooker. How cool.

Edit: I have just read Undercover's story and Gary Brooker was in fact in the band, so he would have sung Whiter Shade Of Pale.

That's quite a show, every time I read of Joe or the Eagles performing in England I wish terribly that I could have gone, but this not only has Joe but people like Townshend, amazing.
