I guess they didn't think highly enough of it to include or re-record it

Randy recorded it later on his self-titled 1978 solo album. I'm actually glad the Eagles didn't release it. Check out the lyrics here: http://randymeisneronline.com/solo/rm78/badman.htm

Or they may have been trying to balance the lead vocals and Glenn had enough. That was the last album where they did that.

I have no idea why it wasn't included because I really liked it the first and only time I heard it live. I can only guess that it was excluded because Glenn would've really dominated ON THE BORDER had that one been on it also. I always thought it odd that it when it finally did appear on anything, it was first on the FM soundtrack and sung by Randy. I'm assuming Glenn gave his blessing for Randy to use it as this was a good 4-5 later.

Bad Man was recorded in London with Glyn Johns before all of his other lead vocals on OTB were

Right, but when it came time to assemble OTB, it was probably decided that one of Glenn's lead vocals had to go and this may have been thought of as the weakest song of the bunch. In my opinion, it definitely is lyrically, but the music struck me as pretty catchy actually. However, if I was going to choose between this, "Already Gone" and "James Dean," I would've cut this one too.

Sorry I'm just now answering your question, Scarlet Sun. I don't remember exactly but I think I saw a reference to it while reading an article about Randy's debut solo album. Something about "Bad Man" being a discarded Eagles track or something like that. It led me to believe it had been recorded and I assumed Glenn sang lead since he co-wrote it.

Lol, I like the "bad" lyrics of "Bad Man", except maybe not the sugar jar reference so much. I don't think it's much raunchier than "Good Day in Hell" actually.

I dunno about a quote+ button. If there's one, it looks like I've been multi-quoting the hard way . Which is not surprising. What I do is scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the "here" link. Then I find the quotes I want and copy/paste.
