On the phone with my aunt in Houston today, I was told there was a great deal of outrage over the fact that the weatherman had said they would get 1-3 inches of snow last week and they got nothing. Schools had been called off in preparation for the "big snow" and kids were eagerly looking forward to it, only to have nothing more than a bit of ice.

While the US has snow, Perth has bushfires!

Australia seems to have taken a lot so far in 2011.

Perth had the bushfires but the floods were in Queensland & Victoria & the cyclone was in far north Queensland. Perth is on the opposite side of the country to those places.

They keep telling us we'll get snow but today it's bright and sunny. Guess that can change quickly though!

I can see parts of the roof of my house! Haven't seen that since the beginning of January....still have about 14" of snow, ice and snirt in the yard that's too deep for my dog Tess to go thru, but still....thawing is proceeding
