Last night was absolutely insane. I went out at 6:30 to have dinner with a friend, and the rain was torrential. We emerged from the restaurant about two hours later, and in that amount of time, the rain had stopped - but it had dropped TWENTY degrees. In two hours! It was snowing instead.

The sudden drop after the rain meant there was ice everywhere. My car door was actually iced shut, and I had to chip ice away and pull hard to get it open. I waited in the car with the engine running for about 10 minutes, then decided that was good enough and went on my way.

Only problem - turns out that the brakes weren't de-iced enough. Going around a corner, I was unable to press my brake all the way down and took it way too fast. I almost lost control of the car. Luckily there were no other cars around, and I just let the car slow down and went the rest of the way 20mph (thank goodness it's only about 10 miles!)

Mission accomplished, tickets purchased. I am going!

Soda, I am glad you were able to drive home safely on those icy roads. Just think, in a day or two you will be in sunny California!

Unfortunately, here in "sunny California" there's snow on my nearby foothills. Mind you, they're only about 1000 ft above sea level! All I can say after reading everyone else's Strange Weather is...global warming my a$$!

We had the same thing yesterday. When I drove home at 4 pm it was 40 degrees. Two hours later it was single digit with wind gusts at -25 degrees.

When I got home from work, I walked out to the end of my driveway to the mailbox -it was raining. On my walk back -it was sleeting. I stopped to help Tom carry something in from his car and there was a huge clap of thunder that made the dogs run for the house and nearly made me pee my pants.

By the time we went back into the house, it had started snowing.

I agree with you about the global warming, Lissa!

    Maleah, -55? This can't be true. I looked it up... it's -48° C!

Soda, that's terrible. I'm glad nothing happened to you!

Our weather is still not what it's supposed to be in January. No snow, just cold wind today.
