Default Alan Frey Interviews with John Beaudin

Got this in a Google alert. Part one of a radio interview with Glenn’s brother Alan reminiscing about the early days of Glenn’s career. He talks more about his own experience during two summers he spent in LA than actually about Glenn, but it’s interesting none the less. http://johnbeaudin.com/interview-gle...es-early-days/

I looked at the video earlier this morning, but didn't know how to link it. Evidently, there will be a second part next Thursday. There are some more cheesy print shirts in the pictures that scroll, Pippin!

Thanks so much for the link, GL. Don't have time to listen to this now, but you know I will!

Another thing about the interview I just thought of. Alan said he was 15 when he went out to LA for the summer to stay with Glenn. That would have made Glenn only 20-21 years-old. His parents must have really trusted him and he must have been very mature for his age for his parents to allow a 15 year-old spent the summer with him. And, he did it two more summers until he graduated HS. I found that interesting.

Part 2 of John Beaudin's interview with Alan Frey is out. I saw some pictures I've never seen before in the video.

    Brothers for life. RIP Glenn

I'm not sure I believe in fate, but I know that crossing paths with Glenn Lewis Frey in 1970 changed my life forever, and it eventually had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet. It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it. But, I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some." -Don Henley

Thanks shun - Since there are multiple videos, I think I'm going to give them their own thread.

I'm going at a slight tangent here but I'm aware that we have at least one journalist here.

Some people are natural (or practiced) storytellers and you can just let the tape run. However, many people need help in constructing a coherent and interesting story. How do you do this? With someone like Alan Frey, how would you get him to tell the stories that we want to hear? Do you agree structure and content in advance? How do you get beyond the vague and general?

With the Alan Frey, I find that I want to know what it felt like to have a brother in a famous group? How did his friends react? Did he have any specific memories about the people he encountered at the Asylum office? What's the story behind his comment about his dissatisfaction with his life back in Michigan and that it lasted for 15 years? Was he musically inclined himself? When his parents allowed him to spend summers in LA, did they have any idea of the lifestyle? Did Glenn take care of him? Did it change the way his family lived? Did he go out on tour and how was that? What about the girls and the drugs?
