    Default Hello everyone

Some dishes you can make when your fridge is empty

Sometimes, you feel hungry and want to make a light dish to eat. But alas, your fridge is almost empty and you haven't gone to the market yet, be it either because you are too tired or because you are broke at that moment. Fortunately, there are some dishes that do not require too many ingredients to make, and below are a few recipes you can use for such a situation.

    Three-Ingredient Pasta Bolognese

Can you believe it is possible to make a delicious pasta dish with just 3 ingredients at hand? Yes, you can. This dish only requires pasta, a bit of minced meat or finely chopped veggies, and pasta sauce.

To start, put the pasta into a pot of water, and then boil it. While waiting for it to cook, you can begin to prepare the meat or veggies. You can use the traditional way, using pots and pans, or just throw it in the microwave and nuke it all – whichever you fancy. Mid-way, add some pasta sauce into the meat/veggies, then cook a little bit more.

Mix the pasta and the meat/veggies together in a bowl, and you’ve got yourself a quick, hot Pasta Bolognese.

    Customized Instant Noodles

Maybe you have a bag of instant noodles or ramen lying around, but just boiling will make it taste very bland. Here, you can make it more delicious by adding your own flavor.

First, you will need to prepare the noodles – this procedure is like normal, where you boil the block of instant noodles/ramen and take it out after 2 minutes.

Then, check your fridge; if you have an egg, you can make a boiled egg or a sunny-side up fried egg, whichever you like. If you have a piece of bacon, fry it, and then put it on top of the noodles. You can also scatter over some crushed peanuts too. Add anything you think that it will make the dish tastier – don’t just stick to the instructions written on the noodle bag.

Now you can begin to make the broth. You can make it with a Thai coconut curry flavor or just plain old soup with some salt and pepper. You won't need any seasoning provided from the noodle bag. For Thai curry style, you need to have canned coconut milk and a Thai curry paste. Add a bit into the pot, then stir. After a while, pour the broth over your bowl of prepared noodles, and you will have a hot dish for your meal.

    Single-Serve Microwave Shakshuka

While the name shakshuka may sound complicated, it is just a poached egg with tomato sauce. You will need a microwave for this dish, be it the best of products or just a normal, old-school model.

First, prepare some cooking spray, marinara sauce, chickpeas, a bit of seasoning, and a large egg.

Coat a big, microwave-safe bowl with cooking spray, then put in the sauce together with some pepper, chickpeas, salt, etc. After that, stir the bowl for a while, then make a well in the middle. Crack the egg into the well. You need to be careful on the next step because you don’t wish to ruin the egg. Gently pierce the yolk of the egg with a paring knife – this will work as a vent to prevent the egg from exploding during cooking.

Now, put the bowl into the microwave and nuke it at 80% of power for 1 minute. Continue to nuke in a 20-second interval at the same power; do this 3 or 4 times, and voila: a steaming hot, delicious Shakshuka is served.

    Conclusion

While these recipes will not cost much of your time and effort, they can also solve your empty-fridge problem for a while.
