Well, dang it... I kept thinking there was something I was supposed to do last night. Oh, well... looks like I couldn't have saved Heartache Tonight anyway.
I vote for New Kid In Town to win.

I do really love NKIT, but........
TAKE IT EASY FOR THE WIN!!!!!!
It's always been my very favorite Eagles song and deserves the win as EVERYONE in the world knows who sings it! Their band defining song!

1948-2016 Gone but not forgotten
I vote for Take it Easy for the win!!!
Utterly pointless alas but I vote for New Kid in Town
I don't know, tlr. The vote is very close this round so I wouldn't count New Kid in Town out just yet. We'll have to wait and see how many votes are still out there to be counted.

This is like choosing between my children. Voting for New Kid In Town.
Take It Easy to win! I love NKIT but Take It Easy is the essential Eagles song to me. It did start it all, and it always puts me in a good mood whenever I hear it.
As far as TIE vs HC being their defining song or the song they are most known for, I'd argue HC takes that one, but TIE admittedly isn't far behind. But I think they are more known for their later work and HC was just such a big song that I think everyone knows it and that it's an Eagles song, IMO to a slightly more extent than TIE. Both are the band's signature songs as far as I'm concerned. TIE for early era, HC for later.
My problem with TIE is that I've kind of tired of it. While I do love the song, I don't *really* love it, and I think because of that it has lost some of it's luster for me over the years. Especially the studio version. Where as I've never tired of HC, being that it's my favorite. When I do like hearing it, I really want to hear a revved up version like they used to do it with electric guitars OR maybe the HFO version with Joe's solo.
I have more appreciation for NKIT now than I ever have and it's slowly moved it's way up on my list of favorites. I like soft/light rock more than soft country, so even though it's softer music than I go for being more of a hard rock fan, it appeals to me the same way Matchbox 20, Train, or another light rock band song might. There's a peacefulness to NKIT for me, that I don't even get with PEF - despite it's name, lol. It defines melodic. I don't get a big country vibe from NKIT like I do TIE, PEF, Lyin' Eyes, Tequila Sunrise, Desperado, etc. It's definitely one I didn't like in the beginning, but it has really grown on me in recent time.
I'm going to go ahead and vote now because I have to go out and run a quick errand before it gets too late. I'll post the official results of the game when I get back. I absolutely adore both of these songs and, personally, I never tire of them. I have gone back and forth about what to vote for, and, ultimately decided to go with the definitive Eagles song that is 'how it all started' ...
I VOTE FOR TAKE IT EASY FOR THE WIN!!!

Well, this was close between the new kid in town and the old guy. There were great expectations because everybody loves the new kid, don't they. But in the end, the old guy just decided to take it easy as he road down the road trying to loosen his load. He knew that in the end our sweet love was going to save him. The winner of the Eagles All-Star Song Survivor is ...
