CA - I am so sorry. My deepest sympathy to you and your family as well. I know your 'Border' family has you in our thoughts and prayers.

I get so upset when I hear people say that wearing masks violates their rights. People seem to forget one person's rights ends where someone else's begins. That's the way it works in our society. That's why we have a smoking ban in public places.

GA - so glad to hear your family is doing better.

CA, such sad news. Yes, wear the masks. Apart from protecting others, it may reduce the viral load for the wearer,

CA, I’m so very sorry for your loss. I’ll be praying for your family, especially your aunt. So awful.

GA, I’m very happy you and your family had milder cases, but I know it still must have been very stressful. I’m so relieved it wasn’t worse!

Finally, some good news. Pfizer say their vaccine offers 90% protection. This sounds much better than expected (the FDA are looking for efficacy of > 50%). They should be ready to seek emergency approval before the end of the month. I know it will be long while before it is generally available, but at least those people or are knowingly exposed each day (such as the doctors and nurses) will have better protection. If you don't trust the US approval system, keep an eye on Germany (the other partner in the development is German).

That definitely is a reason for some hope, UTW. I'm sure we are all crossing our fingers that this all pans out and maybe we can start to make significant progress in controlling this virus by mid 2021.

Between the claims of Pfizer's 90 percent effectiveness and Moderna's 94.5 percent effectiveness, we have some promise. Also I feel like after the inauguration perhaps we'll have a president who takes it seriously.

Please stay safe everyone. Our hospitals around here are absolutely jam packed and so overstressed. One of our towns/cities nearby just made it to the New York Times top 20 hotspots for COVID, listed at Number 18. Quincy, IL. Luckily we don't go to Quincy often, but Blessing Hospital is supposedly so full of COVID cases it's scary. It's in Adams County. I personally just hope everyone stays safe, including all my loved ones.

It’s bad at my place too, each night I’m in, the numbers have jumped up. It’s so depressing. So afraid I will pass it on to family members. I hope all is safe too. Holidays were always stressful for me and this only makes it exponentially stressful.
