Sad to hear about losing this unique performer. Like the Rolling Stone article said, he was one of the founding fathers of rock and roll and paved the way for many that followed after him. He had such a dynamic stage presence. My heart goes out to his family, friends, and fans at this sad time.

Little Richard hired Jimi Hendrix to tour with him during the mid-sixties. I liked the dynamic Little Richard rock'n roll hits: Good Golly, Miss Molly" and "Tutti Frutti!"!

RIP to a true rock and roll pioneer that helped forge the genre.

It was Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, Elvis Presley, Buddy Holly, and Fats Domino that IMO were responsible for taking the blues and turning it into rock and roll. IF I could pick only two, it would be Little Richard and Chuck Berry that I consider to be ultimately responsible for rock and roll music as we know it today. The others I mentioned helped greatly too. The boogie-woogie piano combined with the uptempo shuffle guitar really pushed the blues into something else. It gave it that groove/swagger/bop/swing/etc that made it rock and ROLL. So many bands forget the "roll" in rock and roll. It should GROOVE...

    Default RIP Little Richard

I notice this hasn't been posted yet:

    Little Richard dead at 87

He didn't have that many hits, but he was so influential.

There is a post by someone, but it's in the "Singing for the sake of the song" forum by accident.

    Sorry. That was my bad.

My sister's ex-husband used to play bass in Little Richard's band when he lived here in my hometown.
On my wedding day to my first husband, Little Richard called me up to wish me luck. We talked for about 10 minutes.
The marriage didn't take, but what a sweet, sweet man Little Richard was.
My brother Andy posted this on my Facebook:

"I was lucky enough to hang out with him and my ex bro in law several times. I remember his car had a record player in the glove box which I had never seen before. He was a tutti fruiti nutty buddy!"
