Last night I was channel surfing right after the football game got out of hand, and I heard the names Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh, but had missed most of what they said. Of course, I continued to listen and figured out that it was the intro to a show on the GolfChannel called the Sprint Post Game. Needless to say, I ran to get a blank tape to stick in the VCR to try to catch what it was about. I was lucky because I ended up getting the whole thing on tape when they reaired the program later last night. Glenn and Joe put on a private concert in Maui at the Kapalua Golf Resort on Friday night for players and guests at the Mercedes Championship PGA tour event. Interestingly, they were introduced as "Original founding members of the Eagles - Glenn Frey and Joe Walsh." They showed a clip of them performing Walk Away and Glenn gave a short interview. The only others that I recognized in the clip were Scott and Will. There were two other guitar player that I didn't recognize - but no Steuart. I'm pretty sure the bass player was the same guy that played on Glenn's "Live in Dublin" concert, but I don't know his name. I couldn't tell if any of the "Mighty Horns" were there. In Glenn's interview, he said playing for the world's best golfers "makes us want to play our best at what we do." He talked about how writing songs was like golf - it's not really a team sport and you have to constantly look inside and challenge yourself to do your best, get momentum, and make birdies. He ended by saying "That's all we wanna do in life is make birdies." Right - Glenn!
