Thread: What's happening in your life? 11/06-08/08

Molly - your story about Peter made me laugh out loud! My older son Phil announced he was thinking of joining a club at university. Rugby? The gym? Photography? No, the 'Real Ale and Cider Appreciation Society'! And he had the cheek to ask me to lend him the subscription! No way, son!

Julie, your evening sounded very tedious - the ipod was a great idea!

I think Phil & I would get on, Kate.

I will tell you what I'm doing tomorrow which will hopefully be fun. My mother and I sometimes go to the local pub for lunch. It overlooks the river. We have lunch, then we go to her house & have some champagne & I put some of my home made CDs in her 5 disc carousel player and subject her to whatever I've been listening to. No prizes for guessing which two songs I put on the CD I burned yesterday (I might do another one - it is so great having the stuff all on iTunes so you just copy it across to Nero). At 3 pm I walk down to the school & pick up Rosalind & take her back there, then at 5 Mike picks us up. Hopefully it will be a pleasant afternoon (I admit that sometimes my mother & I don't get on as well as we should).

Sounds like a lovely time! I have a wonderful mother, but she woudn't enjoy sipping champagne (she's a teetotaller) or listening to the Eagles (she doesn't like rock music). Enjoy yourself!

Sounds you have fun with your mother. I see my mother many times. We go shopping or to concerts or I take her with me when I go to see friends. And we nearly have the same taste of music so I always have to make a copy for her if I get new Eagles music for instance

Sipping champagne and listening to your favourite music sounds a very nice way to pass the time. My mum has never even heard of the Eagles and hates rock/pop music. She does like champagne, though!

That's nice, Julie. Hope you two have a good day together!

I get along well with my mother, but she is also a teatotaler (?) and doesn't like rock music. Whenever I mention going to a concert she comments... I wish you all would grow up! She really has no clue that millions of other people our age (50ish) go to rock concerts. And if they do, they look like 60's hippies.

We usually shop or eat when we get together!

It turned out a pleasant afternoon but the weather was cold and rainy - as it is today. It's supposed to be summer down here! No more cloudy days!!

I spent part of this afternoon running in and out of stores trying to do a little last minute shopping. I went into a women's clothing store in hopes of findings a skirt to wear to church on Christmas. No luck.

As I was getting ready to go out the door, NMCD started playing. Well, now I can't leave, can I? Does it matter that I could have gone back out to my car and popped the CD into my stereo?

So, I wondered around the store some more singing softly to myself. I managed to stay long enough to find something to buy. Not the skirt I went in there for, but a denim jacket that I don't really need. I figure Glenn owes me $36.99.

It's a pity it hasn't been cold and rainy in Perth! (For those of you who don't follow cricket, England are being handsomely trounced by Australia, who are playing superbly, and have a bowler called Glenn!)

I went to our local supermarket this morning to stock up for the holiday. They don't play music, but in some of the aisles there are video screens playing jingles. One of them really sounds like the start of NMCD, so I had that playing in my head as I went round and it made the whole process more bearable.
