TBF, hang in there. Your mom is lucky to have you to lean on. I'll keep you and your family in my prayers.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. My aunt passed away last evening. At least she didn't linger for days and went peacefully. Unfortunately, I can't go down to Quincy for the funeral or to be with the family because we have to be here for mom. Mom is really regretting that she got so sick because she was suppose to go home to see her family in Quincy a week after she went into the hospital so didn't get to see her sister one last time. She seems to be doing ok for the most part. We told her she just has to keep concentrating on getting herself better so that she can get home again. It's been hard on her, 2 brothers, my dad and 1 sister in a years time. It sure makes you stop and think, how much more can 1 person go thru?!?

Willie, I'm sorry for your loss.

And I dream I'm on vacation 'Cause I like the way that sounds,
It's a perfect occupation for me.
Willie, I am sorry for your loss too. I hope your mother continues to gain strength. I am glad you are there to support her.
Sometimes I wonder why tragedies do seem to come in groups. In one year's time I lost my father, my aunt (Dad's sister), my great-aunt, and my sister-in-law, all to cancer. It was a very sad time for my family.
Willie, I'm so sorry for your loss! Take care!
DF, I'm sorry!
Let somebody love you, before it's too late..
Willie, I can only imagine how hard it must be not only to lose your aunt, but to see your Mom suffering so much. I know there's not much I can say, except I hope that your Mom gets better soon and I'll be praying for you and your family.

Any kind of love without passion
That ain't no kind of lovin' at all
Willie, I too ma sorry for the loss of your Aunt. At least her passing was peaceful and hopefully that is a small comfort. I'm sorry that you can't attend her funeral but I'm sure she will be in your thoughts. I feel sorry too that your mom didn't get that final chance.
DF I'm sorry to hear that you too have suffered losses in such a close succession.
Hearing stories like this is a wake up call that we can take absolutely NOTHING for granted and should cherish every moment with our loved ones. I hate seeing family members fight and not speak. I'm not saying people can't disagree. However I always like to leave conversations and situations on a good note.

Thanks, GEF, and indeed it was, particularly as the sun was setting on a rare fine evening.
What a lovely surprise for your hubby GEF! I'm delighted that the weather held and that you had such a good time, and how nice of the boys to arrange that meal as well.

GA, you are absolutely right--we shouldn't take anything for granted. That year really served as a wake-up call for me. I have always appreciated my family and loved ones, but now I think I appreciate them even more, because you just never know what may happen in the future.
In the words of my favorite songwriter:
In a New York Minute
Everything can change
And in these days when darkness falls early
And people rush home to the ones they love
Better take a fool's advice and take care of your own
One day they're here, next day they're gone.
So enjoy every moment!
