Brothers for life. RIP Glenn
I'm not sure I believe in fate, but I know that crossing paths with Glenn Lewis Frey in 1970 changed my life forever, and it eventually had an impact on the lives of millions of other people all over the planet. It will be very strange going forward in a world without him in it. But, I will be grateful, every day, that he was in my life. Rest in peace, my brother. You did what you set out to do, and then some." -Don Henley
Olivia de Havilland, who played Melanie Hamilton Wilkes in Gone With the Wind, 1939, was the last surviving leading character from that movie. There are many more supporting character actors from this gigantic Hollywood production, some of whom may still be alive. Endowed with determination, grace and, in the public eye, an almost perfect social demeanor, she iwas one of the truly great ladies.
Sad, 104 years old though! What a long life! Loved GWTW!

Wow, 104 years old. What a good long life...she was truly from another era!
It quite amazing to think that someone who appeared in those huge films of the thirties, opposite people like Errol Flynn and Tyrone Power, has been with us for so long. I have spent many Sunday afternoons watching Miss de Haviland. She sounds like she was a strong character which was probably needed to survive in that environment.
The Snake Pit, my favorite Olivia De Havilland movie. What a character study!
Rest in peace, dear lady full of grace and charm and poise. 104... wow.
Wow - so many talented souls were lost last month. Hopefully, this month will be better.
Olivia de Havilland was such a great actress. At the time of her passing, she was the longest living Oscar winner and one of the last remaining stars of her classic Hollywood era. I had forgotten that she was the older sister of actress Joan Fontaine.
She lived a long and wonderful life and may she rest in eternal peace.
