How come in the How Long video Joe is seen still wearing a wedding ring? Wasn't he already divorced by that time?

Mike,
Too funny...I never thought I had such perfect timing! You shoulda worked that one to the hilt, though...I really thought you had a way to restrict your full message (ie, the photos) only to Border members, not guests. You coulda led me on and on! I was really in awe of your abilities (on the computer, that is...)!

OK, Mike, I was right yesterday. And I'm at work at a different computer in a different town, in case that makes a difference. Before I'm logged on as me, ie, when I'm just cruisin' the Border as a guest, THERE IS NO PHOTO OF JOE ON YOUR POST. There are pictures of Joe in every other post, except of course, my post when I quote you mentioning the picture. As soon as I sign in as me, the photo of Joe magically appears in your and my posts. So you are doing something ( who knows what? ) to selectively allow members to see something that guests cannot! WOW!:computer:

It is odd. Honestly, I've done nothing intentionally to "secure" those images. I checked and the album that "green" picture is in is not flagged any other way than as being "Public". There are two other settings for albums: one for viewable by Contacts and Moderators only and one that is a utility setting for album containing pictures for your profile customization. I do have a background tile in that album but I haven't used any of the other settings.

Maybe our Goddess (Soda) has decided that images I upload have subliminal messages embedded to lead you inocent ladies over onto the darkside and wants to do damage control so that none but those already exposed suffer the consequences!

You're safe then. I only targeted those specific people to whom I wished to expose to the subliminal message...

Hint: The message is a rapidly blinking black circle with yellow symbols on it. I think it might be working.

This is a screen capture from one of Joe's videos where he is going into playing slide. He talks about Dwayne Allman giving him a sertain type of glass slide made from a bottle you get back then from the drug stores but that were no longer available. Joe said he NEVER took that slide on the road....sentimental value.

 Oh My, You don't want to know what I'm thinking about that

Joe's infatuation with HAM radio started when he was quite young and is pretty well documented. I'm sure you can Google it. Considering his recent change in life style, he may be a little diverted from his pursuit of Operating on the HAM bands, but it is a virtual certainty that he'll return to it.

So, if you want to speak to him, study, get your HAM license and then get the certifications for the bands on which Joe operates and you'll probably run into him.

Now, HAM operation certainly does NOT agree well with the image he portrays a the Clown Prince of Rock exacerbated by his appearances on the Drew Carey Shows but does dispel at least any doubts anyone who knows anything about getting a HAM license might have concerning his intelligence! That is NOT an easy certification to achieve and takes a lot of dedication.

All I'm saying is that to get into HAM is just a little bit more complex than running down to the local HAM radio store and buying a radio and microphone. <LOL>

BTW, his callsign is WB6ACU

I found this on a MySpace site of someone who is a Walsh fan:

"He also appeared on Mad TV in 1995 as a customer at an air guitar shop. [edit] Personal life Walsh holds an Extra Class Amateur Radio License. His station callsign is WB6ACU.[2] Walsh attempted to purchase a nice HAM transmitter unit from N2QLS, but was informed it was not able to be shipped, and did not complete the purchase. Walsh has included Morse Code messages in his albums on two occasions: once on the Barnstorm album ("Register And Vote"), and later on Songs For A Dying Planet ("Register And Vote For Me"). Walsh is known for his guitar and keyboard skills, but also plays/has played bass guitar, harmonica, bagpipes, oboe, and clarinet."

Don't know EL. I've never done it! I know you have to learn Morse Code and I think you have to have some pretty solid electronics knowledge. So like anything like that, your required time would be dependant upon the amount of dedication and aptitude for that sort of thing.

Did any of you receive the email from the JWFC last week about their big end-of-year clearance sale? I ordered a comfy grey zip-up sweatshirt with Joe Walsh Summer Tour 2007 on it for $10, and the cutest mouse pad printed with a pic of Joe in the baseball-cap-cam alongside a 2009 calendar for the bargain price of $4. They delivered them today. I appreciated the affordable prices (for once) and speedy service, and I laughed when I saw the return address on the envelope--3Encore!

I'm not longer in JWFC, but I went ahead and ordered that James Gang Hoodie for $20. Shipping was $9.41 I think. It was worth it though. The hoodie is made extremely well and the screening on it was really good.

Just IN...I just received my March "09 issue of Guitar Player Magazine. Page 4 is a full page ad for Carvin Guitars. It is a full page photo of Joe Walsh playing a single cutaway CS6M Carvin Guitar. The right hand corner displays the caption, "Life's been good..." There is the picture of Joe and then a caption that states: Joe Walsh On Tour with the Eagles "Long Road out of Eden" Tour.

JW has been featured on Carvin's web site for a while now, but this is the first time in a good stretch I've seen him in Guitar Player. For a long time Timothy B. Schmit was one of their marquee compensated spokesmen. I will try to posyt a copy of the picture in a future post but magazine pictures do not always copy well. Here is the link to Joe Walsh on Carvin's web site:

It's very hard to find pics of Joe showing his teeth. Maybe we can do some hunting and post them in Walsh Worship.

Everybody got your assignment?...now go!

You're right - maybe he's self-conscious about them? I notice Glenn does the same thing.

Here's one - although he's not smiling - but there ARE teeth! lol

When I first looked at that VOX amp Koala, I thought it was an AC30. But closer inspection makes me pretty sure it is an AC15. I believe the AC30 had two 12" speakers in the combo unit and this one obviously has only 1.

Either way, the AC VOX amps are tone monsters! It does not surprise me that Joe would pose behind one!

The amp I've ordered (and should get on Friday!) is one of the VOX modeling amps...the AD30VT and it has "models" of both the AC15 and the AC30. It won't be quite the same as the all-tube models, but from what I've auditioned with them and from what I've read, the models are VERY accurate!

While there is no admirer more devoted to Joe Walsh than am I, I fear that my admiration for his "smile" (or any other part of his physical anatomy) is restricted to that of gratitude that he is "happy".

I only hope that he is "happy" having so many admirers as found here yearning over his likeness....even a 60-yr-old is not immune to that! I say that as a 60-yr-old myself who has not had the privilege of being in that particular situation but be that as it may be, it deters not at all from the imagined boost to ego!

I would LOVE to know more about Rock and Roll Fantasy Camp! I have heard about Baseball Fantasy Camp, I think with the Mets (at least locally). It allows full-grown men (notice I didn't say mature) to live out their baseball fantasies from their youth, rather than vicariously through their children in Little League... Apparently, it's very successful! I can only imagine how successful Rock and Roll Camp could be, depending on the counselors!!:)

Okay, I'll add my contribution:

Actually, y'all might have watched this on Lucy Walsh's MySpace page. It is the clip on the left side of the page called "The Fit" or something like. She ends up eventually in a "Guitar Center" shop where she meets up with her Dad, he gives here a guitar lesson and then moves on to Townshend a guitar...then ends up buying the ax. I didn't get a good look at the guitar he bought, nor why he needed to buy "another" guitar. Impulse buying:

Is there any doubt an anyone's mind what Joe was playing there? He had had an ungodly blues lead-in and had hit the first note in the signature riff of "Funk #49" and was like saying, "Okay, anyone got an idea what I'm gettin' ready to play?".

Oh, it was 112^ as LEAST in the Cotton Bowl while Joe was playing, so what does he do? He makes his entrance wearing a COAT! He really was having fun that day.

Sorry, I've commented on that concert before...but it was a milestone in my life. Where else could anyone go besides the original Woodstock and see so many different Guitar Gods perform? Answer: NOWHERE

If you are referring to the man in the black shirt with guitars on it, playing 6-string with Joe at Crossroads 2004, it was (or is) Steve Cropper of Booker T. and the MGs.

Rhonda, did you notice the guitar in the pic below "the many colors"?

http://tickypages.com/JoeWalsh/album5/joe90s-08.jpg

Sweet! But I can't make out what it is. First glance, it's a Gibson ES-335, but the 335's had the input jack on the face of the guitar. It's on the end on that one. But the headstock looks faintly "Gibson". Then again, I can not see any "f" holes in the face like the 335 has. Maybe it is one of Gibson's variations on that Guitar.

Then of course it could be a 335 that Joe had modified. The position of that jack is a bad flaw that Gibson never corrected. With the plug sticking straight into the face of the guitar's it is an open invitation for the player to step on the cord and rip a hole in the top of the ax!

Interesting. If it had "f" holes, it would just about be the image of a ES-339:

Yeah! I thought of you and your Sheraton when I saw this pic Mike. I pulled it into Photoshop and enlarged it and tried sharpening the head stock to see if I could read anything, but nada. I can see where that plug position could be a hazard tho. I Upped the contrast a lot on the face and it looks like there might be an f-hole right below Joe's hand. I can enhance it and post if in a bit. I gotta run and get Sarah right now *G* BBIAB

Ben? It's Don Felder.

Maybe "Ben" is "Don's" evil twin!

I would never have thought that they would have picked the Cream version of Clapton's Crossroads. When I think of it, I think of the signature lick that drives throughout the song. But if you can get past that and listen to the rest of the song, Clapton does put on a really RAW performance. Exceptional. But don't neglect to pay attention to what Jack Bruce is doing on Bass. His work is as impressive as Clapton's! It really is a good choice for one of the top 10 solos.
 this time!

I wonder if the "new" Joe is a coming together of factors. I read in an interview when LROOE came out that Joe was tired of being referred to as the "Clown Prince of Rock". He thought, and I agree, that he deserved more respect and consideration than that by now. Maybe the new look is a reflection of "respectable" Joe. That'd also be fine with me...just as long as he doesn't (gasp) grow up on us... :fear:
Maybe he doesn't feel the need to show his originality thru his clothes anymore. We all know by now that he's pretty unique.

I recognize several in that group photo Jess. It was taken at one of the Meet & Greets during the Farewell tours...quite possibly Farewell I.

The guy kneeling down in front...that's Smokey. You will seldom see Joe without seeing Smokey close by! Those two go WAY BACK!

For the sake of respecting the privacy of the others, I'll only say that the lady under Joe's left armpit is very possibly one person who knows as much about Joe as anyone. Joe mentioned her in the interview with Mark Lane. Under Joe's right hand is one of the long-time members in the JWFC and her husband.
