And yes, he looks fantastic in that last one. I absolutely love You're Only Lonely. Breaks my heart everytime I hear it.

 Wouldn't the Eagles sound fantastic on it? :sigh:

I agree Brooke, the Eagles could do a great remake of You're Only Lonely.

Peter Noone was my teen idol when I was 13 years old! It just boggles the mind that he turns 62 today!! He was only 17 when I went to see him in 1965-I screamed myself hoarse, and had the time of my life!!:partytime:

Gram, pretty face, pretty voice... I wonder how he would have turned out had he have lived. I'm thinking he'd still be cutting some new tunes still today. Another of the founding fathers of country rock... I love how he didn't want to catogorize music, he just wanted to feel, hear and play what sounded good... but alas, we label everything.

Anyone notice how there were no cords coming out of those instruments?:hilarious:

Willie, I love Sundown too. My Dad absolutely hated The Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald. I used to put it on sometimes just to annoy him (as a joke, I wouldn't play the whole thing).

Gordon is scheduled to come here in April. We had tickets for his show a number of years ago but it was cancelled due to his surgery. I hope that we (and he) can make the upcoming concert!

LTL, may I suggest Complete Greatest Hits by GL? It's a 2-disc cd. Years ago I had his Sundown album. This now meets all of my GL needs.

God, how I love those two songs, Sundown & the majestic Edmund Fitzgerald, which, like Dylan's Hurricane & Tangled Up In Blue, is a song I will never, ever tire of hearing.

Gord's Gold Vol. 1 contains such gems as If You Could Read My Mind, Early Morning Rain and Don Quixote (although the Don was not a 'young' horseman) while Vol. 2. includes Endless Wire, Ghosts Of Cape Horn, Alberta Bound and Cherokee Bend. Check both out.

And happy belated birthday to that other Canadian, Neil, about whom if I started, I would not stop.

Lightfoot sure favors that 12-string doesn't he...and nearly always has a capo up on the neck.

"Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald" is a pretty simple one to play with only 4 chords played in something like 6/8 time. Sure sounds better though on a 12-string <smile>.

With a capo on the 2nd fret, play in order: Asus4, Em, G and D with repeat through the infinity of verses in the song. One of the great ones. You may nail the chords and get the rhythm right, but I seriously doubt that you will be able to get Gordon's voice copied <LOL>. I know "I" can't!

December 4th would have been Dennis Wilson's (The Beach Boys) 65th birthday. I spent most of the day listening to his songs with the Beach Boys and of course his brilliant solo album Pacific Ocean Blue. Sometimes when I listen to his songs, I get mad at him for not getting help with his drug/alcohol problem and at the people who were with him when he drowned for not stopping him.

I think it's wonderful that you got to see him in concert! I never did, but I remember owning the album An Evening with John Denver, and opening the gatefold to a picture of him in concert with the big screens behind him. There is another vid of this performance also on YouTube that includes the introduction from Dave Grohl that is worth watching but couldn't post it because of his language. But the emotion of Dave as he introduces Jimmy & John Paul Jones is worth watching. I can't imagine what he was feeling being on the 02 stage with those legends.

When I was 15, they showed us a movie about the horrors of drinking and driving in Driver's Ed. It really scared me, that's for sure! Right as the sweet innocent girl gets nailed by the drunk driver, "Time in a Bottle" played. It made me cry. I'll forever associate the two!

My older sister loved the Bay City Rollers! She had one of their albums, but aluminum foil was taped over the back so you couldn't see it or open the gatefold. I was very young when she got it - we're talking toddler - so I didn't exactly notice, lol. A few years later, though, I asked my mother why it was like that. Mom told me that the foil was covering a photo that was not something young girls needed to see (Nora was around 7 or 8 at the time she got it). Of course, after hearing that, I secretly worked the aluminum foil loose enough so I could see what the dirty picture was. It was this (http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_wjH8uj9ArzE/SKLuhCxLyYI/AAAAAAAABKg/2OPITX4FGvA/s320/Bay+City+Rollers+-+It%C2%B4s+A+Game+-+Inside.jpg). What can I say, we were sheltered. lol

This video was always so cute!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wuNBVY2DvkY

Here's an interview from 10 years ago. Very frank and honest. Wondering how everyone feels about him. I always felt he really got the shaft so to speak. I know in another interview I saw once, he claims he saw his father less than a dozen times when he was alive. So very sad. This interview he claims he had to buy back the postcards that he sent his father from Yoko.

Sunday the 11th, John Kay of Steppenwolf turns 66. I saw them in concert about 15 or so years ago-he was fantastic!!!!

I've got this on a various artists video. It's from 1969 and I remember watching it over and over and thinking how handsome he was.

More recently in 2006, still handsome and still sounding as good as ever. I believe this is the only time I've ever seen him without the dark glasses. A little fact--John is legally blind since birth and color blind yet he is an avid videographer. Just another one of those rock n roll tidbits that has been stuck in my brain for years. Thank goodness I finally found a place to show off my brilliance!:hilarious:

Of course Bob Seger is very important to Eagles history too. He wrote and produced "Such a Lovely Child" and "Burned" for Glenn's early band The Mushrooms and allowed Glenn to sing backup and play guitar on his songs "Heavy Music" and "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man," giving Glenn his first taste of having his voice/playing on a record. Later he would contribute to the Eages songs "Funky New Year" "Heartache Tonight" as well as Glenn's lovely solo song "That Girl."

Glenn also sang on the magnificent "Against the Wind."
Against the Wind (studio version)

I still think that the rumor that Bob wrote "Still the Same" about his old buddy Glenn is right on target:
Still the Same (live 1980)

Ive always been a dreamer

Yay! Happy Birthday, Paul! A FANTASTIC singer, and a real gent.

I remember Don Henley commenting once that Paul Young had a great, soulful voice. He wasn't wrong!

Not an original, but I've always loved this:
