Another favorite from the August album. This album's special to me because it was this tour that my husband and I had our first date at a Clapton concert in Chicago. Nothing like being stuck in a car for a couple hours to a concert with someone you're on a first date with. It was an 85 Camaro Berlinetta with t-tops on a sunny Easter Sunday, so it was a pretty good first date. :hilarious: You get to know each other pretty well.

My favourites are songs like Boom Boom Mancini & Roland The Headless Thompson Gunner. I should give a special mention to Dirty Life & Times though because Don plays drums on that (very rare non-Eagles drumming appearance, especially these days). There is a live album called Learning To Flinch which is like a Best Of. The albums I would most recommend are Excitable Boy, which features Werewolves & Lawyers, Guns & Money, Bad Luck Streak In Dancing School which features every member of the 1980 Eagles lineup, Sentimental Hygiene & Mr Bad Example. The album he made before he died, The Wind, features Don, Tim & Joe, but you might want to work your way up to that. All his albums are worthy of investigation.

The first time I saw Elton John was at the Fillmore East, , but I had no idea who he was. I think he was opening for someone else at the time. He totally blew me away. I think his album just came out. He had that audience mesmerized!! Well, it wasn't long before he was a superstar....I do remember it was the first time I heard This & it had me in tears & is still moves me today. Seeing that video of Elton and Billy Joe reminded me of a long ago story. There was a dive bar in South Bend Indiana 20 minutes away from us that we use to frequent ever so often and it was close to where hubby worked so him and the guys used to stop for a beer after work sometimes.

One night while they were there, had to be the mid 90s I think, one of the regulars was talking to hubby and told him he should of been there the night before and that there were 2 rather eccentric fellows in there buying drinks for everyone with a big black limo sitting in the parking lot with a couple burly guys guarding it. Said they had told them that they had been in Indianapolis the night before and just passing through. When asked who they were, they had told the patrons they were "the rocket man and the piano man". My hubby being a huge Elton fan knew that he and Billy Joel had been in Indy the night before performing and instantly knew who it must of been and asked the regular if it had been Elton John and Jilly Joel. The patron said he didn't really know, just knew that it had been a good night of free drinking. :stunned: Ugh!!! I still haven't gotten over the fact that hubby missed all that by 1 night!!

One night while they were there, had to be the mid 90s I think, one of the regulars was talking to hubby and told him he should of been there the night before and that there were 2 rather eccentric fellows in there buying drinks for everyone with a big black limo sitting in the parking lot with a couple burly guys guarding it. Said they had told them that they had been in Indianapolis the night before and just passing through. When asked who they were, they had told the patrons they were "the rocket man and the piano man". My hubby being a huge Elton fan knew that he and Billy Joel had been in Indy the night before performing and instantly knew who it must of been and asked the regular if it had been Elton John and Jilly Joel. The patron said he didn't really know, just knew that it had been a good night of free drinking. :stunned: Ugh!!! I still haven't gotten over the fact that hubby missed all that by 1 night!!
