I was in WalMart today and they have some great t-shirts - each one depicts a different front cover of Rolling Stone Magazine. They have some good 'oldies' covers including, of course, an 'early Eagles' front cover. I know the picture is on this site but I just cannot track it down. They are only $10.00 - I'm definitely going to get one.

I guess I'll have to run to Wal-Mart too. I'd love the second one. I'm curious too see what else they have. It's funny you bring this up, because I was thinking to myself over the weekend... why can't a mainstream store just carry some Eagles t-shirts so I don't have to order them on line. So thanks for the info!

Thanks so much for the heads up on this. I usually don't go to walmart unless I absolutely need to because 1. I live in a big college town and it's always hard to find a good parking spot 2. I always end up spending way more money than I plan on spending 3. It never fails that I get in the line that takes forever to check out.

I wasn't planning on going to walmart anytime soon but it is now on my agenda for today. And for $10, I've gotta find these t-shirts

I'll have to check this out too, as I have yet to own a Eagles T. There are 4 WM on my way home from work. I'm supposing it's in the mens section??

Funny--my niece emailed me yesterday and says that during lunch hour she ran to Walmart and saw these shirts and was going to buy me one but swears she has never seen me in a tshirt before so didn't. Crap!! She's kinda right, I usually don't wear to many of them but I do wear one every once in awhile. I have tons of concert shirts but seldom wear them but still have to have them everytime I see a concert.

I ran to Walmart yesterday (even thought that store makes me feel dirty!) I was looking frantically and all I could find was Kurt Cobain, Rage Against the Machine, etc. So, I combed the rack one last time... paid off... in light blue I found an Eagles one. It's not the one w/Timothy, but I bought it anyway. I'm just happy to have it. TBSF, thanks for the heads up on this... and Dreamer, thanks for the pic, it helped me to see what I was looking for.

Glad to post those pics, ltl. Your comment made me think that I should go ahead and post the other Eagles RS cover as well. This is strictly an FYI and doesn't have much to do with this thread, but just in case anyone doesn't know, the only other Rolling Stone cover to feature the Eagles was this one last year:

https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/images/eaglesRS2008.jpg

I have tons of concert shirts but seldom wear them but still have to have them everytime I see a concert.

OMG - that sounds so much like me. Back in the 90's when I started traveling a lot for my job, I would buy a tee shirt in every city, sporting event, or concert that I went to, but I rarely wore them because they make me look like a box (no, seriously)! I finally realized what a waste it was, but not before I had a huge collection. I can wear the baby doll style, but you couldn't find them a lot back then.

luvthelighthouse
05-28-2009, 10:53 AM
Why does Walmart make you feel dirty?

Well, every one I have walked into has a funky smell. Popcorn or yeast smell from the restaurants in them. The clientele is kinda suspect as well. Just overall, I don't really like Walmart. Granted, I'll shop there for certain things, but really, I find it kinda sleazy. JMO. I'd rather shop at Target.

TimothyBFan
05-28-2009, 12:06 PM
Wow--don't even know what to say about that. I admit, there is one Walmart store in this area I try to avoid because it isn't kept up and the clientele at that store are a bit scary. But the rest of the Walmarts in the area are nice. I do prefer to shop at Meijer myself but not because Walmart makes me feel dirty. I simply wont shop at any of the stores on the end of town that one bad Walmart is on because it is a very bad area and I don't like to go into it. I have nothing against Walmart and apparently the Eagles don't either since that is where they chose to sell LROOE.

EagleLady
05-28-2009, 12:09 PM
All our Walmarts are well kept, and the clientele are very friendly, My mom worked at one. Albertsons is one store I hated going to, cause the place wasn't well kept.

luvthelighthouse
05-28-2009, 12:33 PM
I'm not asking people not to shop there. I was asked a direct question and answered it. It is MY opinion of the Walmarts I have been in. Obviously, if I wanted LROOE, I had to go there... but just because the Eagles made a deal with them, doesn't mean I have to like their stores. Again, I shop there for certain items, but it's not my first choice. It's just my opinion, others could love the place and that's fine.

I went back to my hometown to visit my family during the past 2 days and I checked out the walmart there and they didnt' have any of the Rolling Stone tshirts. I had actually forgotten all about the shirts 'till I was driving back home this afternoon and received a text from someone that reminded me to stop at one of the 3 walmarts that I always pass on my way back home. Luckily the first one I stopped at had them.

I also stopped in one of our Walmarts last Thursday, but there were none to be found where I looked. Are you all finding them in the Men's department? I'll probably stop in another one later this week to see what I can find.

luvthelighthouse
05-31-2009, 11:06 PM
Dreamer, I did find mine in the men's department. It was on a fourway rack. The topper (sign) said, "Rolling Stone". I missed it the first time around. Remember to keep your eye out for the light blue. I exchanged mine today, due to the rip in the side. They didn't have my size so the one I got is too big... but that's okay, I figure it'll shrink... I had to have it though. :nahnah:

I'm not sure if they are in Canada or not. I do know that they are giving away 12 issues of Rolling Stone (as mentioned above) as part of their marketing...so I'm not sure how that would come into play with Canada. Good luck, I hope they make our way to our friends up north!

I had no idea this shirt even existed until today. I was at one of our three Walmarts and I went over to the men's section to pick up a couple of men's tees for $5. I saw this display of all these different Rolling Stone tees and I thought "wouldn't it be cool if..." and then I spotted Don's fuzzy head :) They had only one in my size and I had to have it... I checked Walmart #2 but they were out and I am going to hit #3 tomorrow and see if I can find one more.

That was my favorite Eagles line up. I remember that photo, so I did a little searching and found the story from that Rolling Stone:

http://www.cameroncrowe.com/eyes_ears/articles/crowe_jrl_eagles_chip.html

It was written by Cameron Crowe, if you haven't read it, I think you might enjoy it (I LOVED re-reading it).

I haven't seen the t-shirt yet either (though I'm still looking!).

I know - I love going back and reading some of these old articles even though I don't have much time to do it. I remember one day last winter, I went to our Joe Walsh Online site to look something up and came across something interesting. I ended up spending the entire afternoon reading various articles on all of the sites and really enjoyed it. It was better than reading a good book! Soda has a lot of good stuff on the sites that can keep you occupied for many hours - very addicting!

Anyway, I went to another Walmart on the other side of town a couple of days ago. Unlike the Walmart that I went to last week, they did have some of the Rolling Stone shirts - but, unfortunately, no Eagles. Oh well - I guess my mission continues!

I've been to 3 Walmarts, each in a different city, so I don't believe that the T-shirts are in the Canadian stores. From past trips to a US Walmart I recall that the clothes in that store were completely different from the clothes in the one at home in Canada. Oh, well. Maybe I will have to try to make my own T-shirt.

I finally went to my local Walmart and saw their varied collection of Rolling Stone T's. They had one young half-dressed Eagles T-shirt left in a pale slate blue, Men's size L...which I bought for a mere $7, and am happy to mail to whomever wants it. I just don't care for the way it looks on me. Even though it's a Mens size L, I'd say it's equivalent to a Ladies size 12 or 14. It's 100 % cotton, so account for shrinkage! PM me if interested.

They had another shirt from a June 2000 issue with Kid Rock's picture, but the most prominent of the Rolling Stone headlines was "Don Henley Returns!" :drummer:
