Same here - Timothy's is better, but of course we'd think that!
BTW, I moved the posts about "Stars to the Rescue" to the review thread for the show (https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/forum/showthread.php?t=6122), just to make it easier to find later. It might be hard to remember where it is in this big old press thread.

Still reeling from Glenn's death but here's a nod to a charity function TBS is involved in. Can't get any further as not on Pinterest.

I've been keeping a close eye on this thread hoping someone here will see an article, or even a quote from Timothy about Glenn's death and share it here. It didn't really surprise me that Don put something out there first, but to be honest, I thought we would have heard something from Timothy by now.

Thanks, NMB. The way I see it, all of the guys are always working on a next album. If he's actually bringing people in and recording, that's another matter. We'll see. What I'd really like is for him to bust out with some un-released demos of songs with him and Glenn, but that's unlikely to happen!

Thanks, NMB. Let's hope for the best on that, you know? Keep a good thought and all that; but, that said, I remember reading something that was dated 2011, I believe, that said he was already working on his next solo album.

It's Owen's house in the Hollywood Hills, she bought another recently in another area of LA. Timothy never lived here, it is held in his family trust. The condo was something different they owned in Hollywood. He lives in Calabasas/Malibu in the Santa Monica mountains. Several properties are held in his family trust.

Yeah, I was pretty sure that house has appeared in the background of some of Owen's publicity photos. I'm a bit of an historic house junkie so this one caught my eye. The condo in Studio City is where Jeddrah lives, right? Contemporary architecture, so zero interest in that one. JMHO, no offense to modern house folks.

As far as I know, any "stalking" done by Borderers consists of Googling and attending Eagles and solo shows. To my knowledge, nobody on here has ever attempted to drive past an Eagles' house or violate their privacy in any inappropriate way. Even the time I was in West Hollywood at dinner and an Eaglet posted a pic of the relevant Eagle at a nearby restaurant, I didn't even run over there! I should have :hilarious:

There's an interesting quote from Timothy in this article/editorial about the Kennedy Center Honors. However, there's no context for when he said it or what the question was, so...
As a musician who stepped into Meisner's shoes in two high profile bands, Schmit has a unique perspective on why Meisner couldn't last the long haul in either group: "Y'know, I don't wanna get too personal about Randy. I knew that he quit Poco years ago and I joined Poco, so I followed him twice, actually. And the vibe I was getting was from both bands -- without getting specific -- was that Randy just couldn't settle in and he wasn't content. For whatever reason -- and I think it was more personal reasons, than anything."

That was a good interview. I laughed at when Timothy told the story of Glenn about to get off the plane. Turns around and tells everybody, "Enjoy your time without me." Enjoy the 10 days away from each other. But on the other hand. I'm glad he didn't say this when they were done with the tour. It would had been sad to know that would had been the last time they would see him, but in this case. They were going to see Glenn again in 10 days.

I've never spotted him in a Henley video, although he did appear in Glenn's video for "Some Kind of Blue." I'm curious as well! The only video I know of for his first album is "Johnny Can't Read" - maybe I'll watch it again and look for him.

I think Timothy sing backup on one of Don's albums.

It also could have been something they shot and never released. Don is such a perfectionist and was probably exceptionally picky for his first solo effort. I guess if anyone has downloaded the video and watched it they can tell us!

According to my, I Can't Stand Still, LP sleeve, Timothy and Jeff Porcaro were both on You Better Hang Up, Long Way Home and Dirty Laundry. One great single and two that could have been. 8)
Off the top of my head, I can't remember any, none album tracks from around that time, apart from Love Rules.
I thought that Jeff and Tim may have met during this live benefit, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MQrdOu6f69c but talking about waiting around almost confirms it as a video shoot rather than a live video. I thought i'd post a link anyway as that bass that Tim's playing fits his description of the bass that Glenn gave him as a gift when he joined the band. :)

There was a video for "Dirty Laundry" too as you know, but it's been so long since I've seen it - over 30 years! I don't remember if it was all news clips and no musician/performance footage.
Update: I couldn't find it on YouTube. Any old-timers here like me who remember this video from the early days of MTV? It was mostly faux news footage, as I dimly remember, and ... I think the lyrics were also on screen, like a sing-a-long type thing, follow the bouncing ball. Is this making any sense?

Not that it matters, but I feel obliged to point out that ASWTDID is on Henley's second album Building The Perfect Beast. As far as I know Schmit is not in the video. I have no idea if he sang backup on the song.

Here's a really good interview with Tim. It even explains why it's so hard to get his new album on CD.
In the old model before social media and before iTunes I probably wouldn’t have been able to do this, because you have to deal with much more difficult distribution but now that the physical distribution can be done out of your own store, online or Amazon makes it doable. iTunes is by far the biggest vendor selling music. So I’m doing it myself and it totally affects me.
There's new detail on old subjects.

"When we sort of abruptly stopped in mid-summer of last year I said to myself, “I can’t let all these strange things that are happening around me affect my own life. I can’t let that stagnate me, I’ve gotta move forward,” which I think everybody in the band did, Don (Henley) and Joe (Walsh) and I. Plus Glenn was sick a lot with a cold on this tour too. I think I remembered a few people who were at some of the concerts said Glenn didn't look well.
It is kinda interesting in what Timothy meant with that statement since it seem like July 29th was going to be the last tour date for last year and every interview they did leading up to July 29th said they was done for the year.
I remembered from an interview (I think it was the interview with that Australian reporter. I can't remember her name)Don did while promoting CC that they got together (they was probably got together before Glenn got sick. So they had to gotten together between August and November, but it had to be before September since Don was going to put out CC and tour during that time) and say they would take a break for the rest of the year and they would see each other again at the KCH and of course they would have their annual January meeting to see what they wanted to do for the new year. It seems like they were thinking about touring sometime next year since they wanted to do a tour for HC's 40th anniversary.

We know they didn't cancel any announced dates of that leg of the tour. It is possible that they had future legs planned or even booked and not announced. Or simply future plans. Anyway, this is conjecture. The point is it sounds like in Tim's mind, the end of the Eagles was abrupt.

I remembered Bernie saying that in an article. I think they were done for the year and they would start back up in January or February.
I wonder how long it takes to plan a tour because right after the HOTE tour ended Don and Joe were already posting dates for their fall tour.
I don't know. Something's strange going on. I'm going by memory from articles and posts. I remembered the guys took the rest of June off. Don went to Nashville and LA during that time to say CC was coming out in September. Then they started back on the road after the 4th of July. Tour until the end of July. From an interview Bob Seger did, Glenn went on vacation after the tour. Don started to promote CC in August and his dates started go on sale in August. The same with Joe.
Maybe they were going to do some dates after Don and Joe finished with their tours last year, but that would had meant ending close to Christmas.
They were in talks to do a 40th anniversary tour of HC the following year. I'm thinking they had to get together after Glenn went on vacation and before Glenn got sick. Maybe they were going to start touring after New Year's, but then Don was talking about start back touring again for CC in the spring. So its confusing.
The question is when did Glenn actually go to the hospital. Was he already in the hospital when they announced they will postponed KCH until next year or he went to the hospital later.

As far as I remember he went into hospital at the end of October & never came out. He was in hospital when the postponement was announced. At that point it was expected that he would have surgery & a long period of recuperation. From what I understand, and I may be wrong, the last Eagles show was the last time any of them saw him.
My guess is that they probably discussed the HC tour at their January 2015 meeting.
I don't see what is 'strange' about it. It's just the choice of the word 'abrupt' seems wrong.

A few years ago, there was a newspaper article on Irving Azoff that said he spoke to the same five people every day by phone and that Don and Glenn were two of them. Based on that, I assume at least Azoff was in touch with Glenn and later with Cindy and that he would have passed on some of the news to Don.
If Timothy had used "abrupt" to describe the end of the group, I don't think anyone would think anything of it. It just seems odd to have it applied to a tour which - as far as fans knew - had come to a natural end.

Perhaps to Timothy it became abrupt later in the fall, when they were forced to realize the true extent of what was happening and that the Eagles would be no more, certainly not in the new year. He probably initially thought it was another bout of the intestinal troubles that had hospitalized Glenn before, and they would wait for him to recover and start up again. The "strange" things going on around him could be necessary business meetings relating to the Eagles business entity. It is such a huge machine, and though all contingencies would have been addressed in business papers, I'm sure there were certain decisions that required discussion with the members of the band and 360 degrees of management, not just Irving. I'm sure it was a very surreal and strange time for all of them. If the man says it was abrupt, I'll believe him!! Let him choose his adjectives LOL!

He can choose his adjectives as much as he wishes, but if I think they are inappropriate I will say so, and I think the words abrupt, surreal and strange don't begin to cover what actually occurred. I understand that he wished to 'move forward' but he had no choice.

Some people have the knack of writing exactly the right thing that resonates with a lot of people. The rest of us bumble through doing the best we can. Sometimes we upset people or are misunderstood because of our choice of words and sometimes we just have a different opinion. My view is that we should try to be tolerant of each other (and the band members) because a discussion forum doesn't work if everyone is too scared to post for risk of offending someone.
Because so little has been said by the band, I tend to over-analyse every interview comment and wonder if there is some hidden meaning. There may be or it may just be they are having a hard time finding the right words (because "there are no words"?). These guys are working through it and trying to make sense of their lives just like us regular folk.

So now we've reached a point where the fans know more than the band members. You know "what actually occurred" and Timothy's candid thoughts are inappropriate. Unreal. Thanks for ruining what was an overwhelmingly positive thread about a great interview. Forget it.
When I said 'what actually occurred' I meant Glenn's death. No more, no less. Others also expressed some disquiet with the use of the word 'abrupt'. Even 'unexpected' would have been better. Never mind.

But no dates were cancelled, so the tour ended as scheduled.
I really didn't want to bring this up, but I saw them in February 2015, and I think Glenn's health was deteriorating then. Who on this board was the last to see them?
I saw them last in July in Lexington Kentucky and he was in good spirits and good voice. To be honest they all looked really tired and ready for a break. Seeing him I would have never thought he was sick
Sure miss the Eagles. Was so used to seeing every couple months. No other show makes me as happy as an Eagles show.

But UTW, that would mean that Timothy knows something about the Eagles activities that the fans don't know about - absurd!
No seriously, wouldn't even have to be private shows - the concerts are booked six months to a year in advance, especially in arenas that have basketball and hockey. I worked in an NHL arena for years. The acts book months and months out - has nothing to do with when it is announced and tix go on sale. Entirely plausible they had booked some dates for 2016.

Just now getting a chance to listen... it's possible they had some dates scheduled for 2016, but since Timothy switched the KCH, it's possible he realized they didn't actually have to cancel tour dates. I do remember there being some talk of doing a tour where the would play the HC album in its entirety to celebrate its 40th anniversary (we were all wondering who would do "Try and Love Again", I remember).
While I'm sending questions out to the universe, does Tim have a brother?
One older brother and one younger. IIRC, they both still live in Northern California.

Don't forget David Bowie. He was always skinny. Now he looked terribly thin at the height of his drug use(but than again. A lot of artist from that the 60s and 70s were very skinny. The weight didn't come on until they got older, but that's different David. He never gain a lot of weight when he got older), but after he got clean he was still very skinny, but looked healthy. I don't think I ever seen him with a lot of weight on him.

Mr. Timothy speaks with the Orange County Register. A new (to me, anyway) detail is that - back in '77, his neighbor JD Souther gave him advance notice that Randy was leaving the Eagles and Tim would be invited to take his place.

I just came here to post that interview. I'd read about JD Souther giving him a heads-up before. I think he also said he'd called Azoff looking for work as Poco were inactive and he needed to make some money but he wasn't expecting an opportunity with the Eagles to come up.
For me, the intriguing part is:

It was a good interview. That writer for the Telegraph did a good article on Glenn and the Eagles just after Glenn died. I'm pleased to see Timothy acknowledge both sides. What I've been thinking is that we talk about shades of grey rather than things being black and white but with Glenn, it seems that they got both black and white but never "wishy-washy" (to quote Timothy). We have to assume that the good stuff outweighed the bad.

Thanks for posting that interview - I saw it myself this morning and was planning to put it up here. However, it does say that if you register you can read one free article per week, so you don't necessarily have to pay to read it. I'd agree it's a good piece. Tim comes across as a great guy - when doesn't he? I can understand why he wanted Personally I thought it was interesting to hear how he keeps his success in perspective.
My only real nit pick is that I noticed that there was a photo of Tim with Glenn which I think was incorrectly captioned - it looks to me like it was from the softball match against the Rolling Stone journalists, which would date it to 1978, was dated as 1977, when Randy was still in the band.

It's definitely one of the best Schmit news articles, credit to writer, Simon Cosyns.

I enjoyed it too UndertheWire. Great to hear Tim playing some live harmonica but somebody should explain to him the virtue of abridged acoustic performances. All Those Faces, at 7 minutes long, is a stretch with a full band but a real test of endurance as an "unplugged" performance, even with the harmonica.

A (brief!) interview with Timothy features in this month's Classic Rock under their 'Welcome Back' slot. If they aint tellin', I assume that they have a few options and are waiting to see how strong the initial ticket sales are going. If it's Elton or MacCartney, ticket sales will have been sluggish. If they sell out without making the announcement, the obvious choice would be Sombody from the five other bands on the bill or someone cheap

This is a transcript of Timothy's interview with Nicky Horne that was shown on Vintage tv recently. The interview was recorded in February and clearly this was before Nicky or Timothy knew about the Classic shows.
Nicky Horne: Our star guest today was the bass guitarist with the Eagles. I say “was” because with the death of Glenn Frey the Eagles are no more. Whilst Don Henley and Joe Walsh have had successful and long-standing careers, Timothy has really kept a lower profile. Well that’s about to change now with his new solo album “Leap of Faith”. We met up with Timothy B Schmit when he flew into London recently.
NH: Timothy, it’s always good to see you. I think the first time was when you were in Poco and in fact the last time was around 7 years ago when Expando came out.
TBS: That’s right.
NH: So seven years from one solo album to the next. What took you so long?
TBS: Well, I had some priorities. The number one priority was Eagles and we were touring a lot so I didn’t have a lot of time to write and record. I would return home between tour legs and chip away at it. Another thing is that I wrote all these songs but I’m not really fast at it. I’m very methodical and take my time. That combination is the reason.
NH: You said in one interview - “I wanted to make an album on my own. In any collaboration one has to make a series of compromises” - which of course you had to do with the Eagles. With this there is no compromise and the lyrics are very personal indeed, aren’t they?
TBS: Yeah, I would say so. It’s kind of a diary, I think. To just write about what I’m thinking about on any particular day and lately ‘cos I am getting older, I guess it deals with my own mortality.
NH: You talk about mortality. You think about how you’re going to spend the rest of your life. In the first song you talk about not letting the little things kind of get to you and you say in the lyrics that the little thing… it’s been happening a lot the last few years.
(Timothy acknowledges this with a “hm” and a smile)
TBS: Well I think it’s probably always happened but I’m conscious of it now/ I’m conscious of trying to let the stuff that doesn’t matter , let it go y the wayside ‘cos we don’t know how much time we have here. When a friends does die, someone close to you, that’s when you really realise it so I’m trying to enjoy as much as I can and write as much as I can about that.
NH: We’ve not had a chance, you and I, to speak since Glenn died. I know that within the group, the Eagles and family and friends, people knew Glenn was sick but I don’t think that anyone thought that it would turn so bad so even then it must have cine as a terrible shock to you.
TBS: Yeah. He was very sick but the longer he stayed pretty much unconscious, the more and more we started to comtemplate this real possibility, hope being that it wasn’t going to happen but indeed it did and even though we were sort of prepared you’re never really prepared. It’s so final. I’ve stopped thinking about it every single day now but for months and months, I didn’t… it didn’t get out of my head that this person that you knew and worked with is just gone… profoundly sad and weird.
NH: He was the one who brought you into the band.
TBS: He’s the one that called me up. I still remember that day.
NH: Tell us about that.
TBS: Well, I was home up in the Hollywood Hills. Poco was off. I believe my wife and then my only daughter were out of town and I barely had been up out of bed and back then it was probably afternoon and I got this call and it was Glenn and he pretty much said that Randy was quitting and am I interested and you know and I was able to say “Just point me. I’m there. I’m ready.”
NH: But I read the other day that you did an amazing thing. Instead of allowing your manager at the time to tell the other band members in Poco, didn’t you go aroun – is this true? I’m hoping this is true – that you actually went round to each individual member of Poco to talk to them and say “Look, I’ve been offered this gig with the Eagles. I’m out.”
TBS: The reason I did it – yes it is true – the reason I did that – Richie’s a great friend of mine still. I love him, he’s my mentor and all that but when he quit the band to do the Geffen thing with Souther Hillman Furay thing we were called into Geffen’s office and we were told by management that Richie was gone and we had no clue about it. I actually was really surprised that Richie wasn’t talking to us. I thought that wasn’t a good way to do it. So when I was the one who was leaving, I made sure that I went and visited everybody. It was important to me to do that.
NH: I want to talk to you about your life in the Eagles in the sense that you had to go through that period, you know, when Hell Freezes over, where you thought that the band was finished, was done. So you kind of had a rehearsal for that but this is different, isn’t it?
(Timothy tries to say something at this point but I can’t make it out)
I just wondered if you are actually and have come to terms with the fact that the band is over and everything that went with the band is kind of no more.
TBS: Yeah, I have come to terms with it. I mean everything has to end anyway and I’m in a pretty good place with that.
The Eagles can’t be the Eagles without Don and Glenn in my mind so that kind of finalises it to me. I’m ok with it.
I just got right busy. I finished my album. My life is moving oforward. It’s really important to say engaged with life and challenges and whatever you work what it brings you to do and that’s what I’ve been doing.
NH: And do you think we might be seeing you in the UK touring with this album?
TBS: Well we have just opened that conversation. I hope so. I did do a few shows here last time around and got really a good reception. I love what I do. I’d love to come here and play. I’m going to try and work it out but I can’t say for sure.
NH: Well it’s always good to see you, Timothy. Don’t be a stranger.
TBS: Thank you very much.

You're welcome. It was no hardship to spend a little time with TBS. Although it did make me sad when he was talking about Glenn. It brought back how odd it feels when someone you know well is no longer around.

I watched most of the Needle Time interview. It was good in that Timothy got to talk about his writing process and then his career from getting started through to present day but I think we've heard it all before. I picked out a few things:
- he was offered the Eagles job but had to keep quiet about it for a while and even went out on tour with Poco without being allowed to tell anyone.
- no mention of Felder - even when talking about the attempted 1990 reuinion he spoke of Don, Joe and he getting together in the studio and trying to lure Glenn back.
- he said Don and Glenn were hardly ever in the same studio for LROOE.
- this is the first time I've seen a good version of the Long Run videos in large format and the first time I've noticed they were all wearing make-up (I know that's normal for videos).
- I think he refers to Don, Joe and himself as "The Remainders".

I've just watched it too. I don't think I've seen that live, HFO era video of, Love Will Keep Us Alive before. The 1979 date is obviously inaccurate but judging by how young Tim looks, the program makers probably guessed that 1979 was more likely than 1995..
Tim presented Friday Night to the band as a possible inclusion on Long Road Out Of Eden. If the Eagles record new material, tracks like, Slow Down, I Refuse, You're So Wild, What I Should Do, Waiting Tables, and Long Road Out Of Eden itself, show a lot more diversity and promise than Tim's previous material imho.
Leap Of Faith continues to grow on me. It's definitely my favourite solo Schmit album to date.
Talking of Schmit solo albums, The Friday Music label re-releasing some of the more obscure Eagles solo albums in June. Tim's first solo album, Playin' It Cool, from about 1982 is on the list.
Friday Music is very pleased to announce the newly original recording master compact disc release of Playin' It Cool by Timothy B. Schmit.
I don't know what to make of the term "newly original recording" but I don't see the word remaster anywhere so I guess this would have been mastered in the early 80s to be played on a record player or cassette player.

I just read this interview. The venue he is referring to in the World's Fair in Queens, was called the Pavilion. I think it was the NY State Pavilion at the 1964 Worlds Fair. That is the place I saw my very first concert... It was Iron Butterfly in 1969. I didn't realize that Tim did his very first NY concert there. The structure is still there, however it is in run down condition. It is in the park that I can see from where I now live. I think they are going to renovate it for a few million dollars. I didn't see Poco there, but I did see Poco a lot in NYC in the early 70's.
As for the "black mark" for Tim. I disagree with you.... The interviewer was taking the interview in a whole different direction, discussing his background vocals on late 60's & early 70's albums & if got liner credits for it.... I mean seriously??? He wanted to talk about the new album. I don't blame him for that.

We have no intention of replacing Glenn. That’s not really in our thought process, or in our vocabulary. We will supplement a guest or two to help us out. We had one major pow-wow, Don and Joe and I, and we will start getting into the actual set very soon, actually.
It's nice to know that they're having pow-wows. The We have no intention of replacing Glenn line suggests that the public perception of Glenn's role is different to the band's.

Well, that's not true - they are replacing Glenn. No matter how much Don, Tim and to a lesser degree Joe say they aren't and issue denial after denial, the hard cold fact is they are. Did not take long as this appears to have been in the planning stage since last year.

A co-worker of mine came into my office yesterday and said "Did you hear???...Vince Gill is now an Eagle....they will now be the greatest band ever"....It took everything I had to stop me from slapping her....This is the same girl who said, when the Common Thread album came out, that everything sounded better than the original...It's time for me to retire...!!!!!!:brickwall:
