ArizonaEaglesFan found this and posted the link in another thread. But this is such big news that I thought I'd start a new thread for it. Here is the link to the Billboard article posted below.
http://www.billboard.com/bbcom/news/eagles-weezer-aguilera-to-launch-24-hour-1003983953.story
This is the beginning excerpt from the article:
Eagles, Weezer, Aguilera To Launch 24-Hour Online Radio Shows
June 12, 2009 12:14 AM ET
Mitchell Peters, L.A.
Clear Channel Radio and Front Line Management are creating artist personal experience (a.p.e.) radio, a stand-alone company that will allow musicians to produce their own online radio shows, Billboard can exclusively reveal. The channels will run 24 hours a day and play songs chosen by the artist, interviews and commentary. The program will launch in July with the Eagles, Christina Aguilera and Weezer.

How much involvement will they actually have and how long will it last? When they redesigned their official website that was a big event too. Will all four band members participate?

Thanks for the update and links, FFL. I'm still not sure how this works - right now it appears as if Joe is the only one providing any commentary. I don't know if did an interview and they will play snippets throughout the day or what? Anyone got a clue?

I have it going right now and when I first brought it up it was playing Ringo Starr and now LITFL is playing. This could be really fun to listen to ALL the time. Can't wait to hear Joe to find out what that's all about. Love all the photos also!! Thanks AEF for the find!
ETA: Been listening now for about an hour, have only heard 1 Eagles song, a couple Beatles solo stuff, Allman Brothers and quite a bit of great music. No Joe yet but in between songs, an announcer came on and said that all this music had been picked by Joe. So maybe that's all there is to it and no interviews? That would be somewhat of a bummer, but the music is really good stuff so far. Joe and I must have our music taste in common.
Corrected ---Joe just had a brief comment between songs, "you are listening to Eagles radio on your computer, iphone, blackberry or pacemaker on iheartradio." Tee hee, "pacemaker", he made a funny!:hilarious:
And a brief interview, says he's still working on his craft and always will be. Now playing Tequila Sunrise!! Yay-- another Eagles tune. I think I'm going to like this!

I haven't been able to stop listening to it, it's a really, really good station and that iheartradio application is pretty hot too. Glad i can take the eagles whereever i go now. (I've also tried plugging it in my car---works like a gem and i don't have to listen to crappy radio anymore when i travel)

I thought it might be cool to have a thread where we can post the songs we've heard on the Eagles radio station. Like ones that suprised us...or ones that we were thrilled to hear they liked too. When I was listening it said "you are listening to the Joe Walsh selection on Eagles radio....all chosen personally by Joe himself".......or something like that. Anyhoo....I can't listen to it all the time so sometimes I'd like to hear what other people have heard that they've chosen. It would also be cool if we could hear the stories that others have heard on there!
The only song that suprised me that I've heard during Joe's section was Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams." Not sure why it suprised me....just doesn't seem Eagles-ish. lol
They asked Joe if it's true that he's a big baseball fan and he said yes. So they asked him what position he plays and what number he wears. He said that he plays right field because statistically that's where the ball comes the least. lol He said he isn't good but at least he looks good doing it. He also said he wears "Funk" on his jersey, instead of Walsh, and wears #49. Which we already knew ;)
Fill me in on what I miss while I'm at work!!!!!

Maleah - I think your idea is great. At first, I thought it would be good to leave two separate threads, but then I figured it may just get confusing, so I went ahead and merged them.

Listening to Allman Bros "Ain't Wastin' Time No More".
Not that I'm surprised. Joe was really influenced by the Slide Work of Dwayne Allman. I was sort of surprised to hear a couple of tracks by Pink Floyd though. Several by the Doors too.

Hotel California!
Just before this the host asked Joe if it's true that he's an analog guy in a digital world. Joe said it is true and that he's writing a song about it. "I'm an analog guy in a digital world, looking for analog girl" or something like that. lol THen he went on to say something like "I don't do a mouse very well but I try"

One more thing.........they have the different mentions of eagles radio of course in between songs. Might be cool to hear the different variations.

They just asked Joe about why he named Funk 48 and Funk 49 what he did. He said something along the lines of....
"I think funk 48 is actually 1 and 49 is actually 2. I'm pretty sure yeah it's like what's the name of this one joe and i don't have a clue and you know you gotta think of a name and that's what came out of my mouth and we were messing with grooves and funk 48 just came up. and that happened a lot in the james gang....someone would just count off and we'd meet up at the end of the song. and we'd been playin' so many grooves that I just figured there had to have been 47 of them. So this became funk 48.
i'm sorry it's not a lot deeper and cosmic than that folks. that's how it got named."
And now the Beatles "Eleanor Rigby"
Before that had some REO Speedwagon, Meat Loaf, and Who.
*edited to add that I was a little suprised that after the Beatles came Nirvana and "Breed" lol

A bit late to the party, but....
Loaded it for the first time this morning and segued from Stones' "Only Rock and Roll" to Nirvana's "All Apologies." Can't see anyone but Walsh appreciating the latter, and I actually checked to ascertain that I had selected the correct station. Awesome. As long as they don't play "Smells Like Teen Spirit" this station and I are going to have a beautiful relationship. The only issue is I keep skittering over to iTunes and buying every third song, damn it.
What's with the complaints about excessive Neil Young airplay? No such thing as too much Neil Young. :eyebrow: Such heresy!
And I realize I have enlisted TBS as my avatar, but I have no problem with all-Walsh, all the time. He has excellent taste.

I'm wondering if Joe and Ringo will talk about the Beatles? As you all know, Ringo has pretty much declined to speak of that era. Mark Lane interview Joe on a radio broadcast back in 2000 or somewhere along about then and even back then, Mark said to Joe that Ringo had refused interviews that had anything to do with the Beatles.
I sure hope that interview is recorded by someone. I'd love to hear it and know that I'm not going to be able to listen to anything for several days <sigh>.

Heard Joe say yesterday that they received an E mail from Danielle in The Netherlands, asking what the Eagles are doing now. (Could this be from our very own Mrs. Henley?!!!!!) Anyway, his reply was a typically Eagles', "I don't know", LOL. He then went on to say that they worked hard this year and therefore wouldn't be doing anymore concerts for the rest of the year. But.....he then said that they had more concerts to play in the States next year!!!! :partytime:
In the States??
Come on Joe. Asia and the Pacific have been waiting since 2004. Yes, go back to the West Coast of the US, but please don't forget us.

Okay, even though I'm never able to listen, I emailed Joe a question! Here's what I asked...
Hi Joe!
Greetings from the fertilizer of Irving Azoff's genius!
Are you currently working towards putting out a solo album? If so, any timeline for a release date?
Thanks,

I just read in Joe Vitale's book about how Joe and Rick the Bass player made suits for themselves from news papers and scotch tape on a flight to Florida once and wore them off the plane and all the way through the airport back in '84. Maybe I should suggest this might be a viable replacement for the current concert attire? *G*

Riddle me this: I've heard "Take it Easy" several thousand times over the course of my lifetime. Yet every time those opening twangs pierce the air I completely lose my mind. This behavior is not observed for any other Eagles song and seems the exclusive product of this particular stimuli. I should be placed in a test tube and studied.

Ticky and ABM
"Take It Easy" That intro really takes two guitars playing duo. The chords are "G" "C" "Am7" and then back to "G". That's the "background" part though, you know, the part that is sort of a rapid strum with emphasis on the lower strings.
You only strike strings 1 2 3 4 on these overplays and let them Ring over the strummed guitar.
The part you HEAR over the "G" chord is 1.3 2.3.
Over the "C", you play 1.3 2.1 4.2
Over the "Am7" you play 1.3 2.1 3.2
At least, that's the way I play it.
If you want to play it with full chords and make it sound like Glenn and Joe did it, Play the "G" normally. Then play the "C" with you little finger parked on the 3rd fret of the 1st string (C/G). Then you make the third chord which is actually a Dsus4 by 1.3 2.1 3.2. With those chords, you can strum the entire intro and get the sound out of just ONE guitar. Or at least, get it pretty close. The key is that 3rd fret on the first string.
It is a very powerful chord progression but just doesn't sound right played with one guitar.

B:-3------------|-1-------------|-1--------------|

Mike - THANK YOU! I like the G/C; it's the subtle distinctions that make all the difference. It's great! There's a service provided by Google (Yahoo also does it) where you can sign up to be alerted every time a certain phrase appears in a newly-posted article ("eagles," "glenn frey", etc.) It's a great way to get news from all over. It's how I get most of my Eagles news.

This is just how frickin' pathetic I am. I was working all day yesterday in the kitchen trying to get ready for the Christmas baking and stuff. While I was, I had on Eagle Radio and I was curious about how many Eagles songs they actually play, so every time they played one, I wrote it down.
Here's the list (I told you I was pathetic!).
7:25 Long Run
9:45 Rocky Mountain Way
10:10 End Of The Innocence
11:30 Take It Easy
12:05 Funk # 49
1:10 Lyin' Eyes
2:16 Hotel California
3:34 The Heart Of The Matter
4:00 Already Gone
4:31 All Night Long
5:30 In The City
And then the family started getting home and my quiet was done. :hilarious:
For the record, they also played 5 Pink Floyd songs and an interview between David Gilmour and Joe Walsh, and 5 Led Zeppelin songs also.

Got tired of my Pandora Christmas playlist today so turned on Eagles Radio and they are playing Wilco, I'm The Man Who Loves You. I know we have a Borderer her that really likes them so of course I thought about that. Also, about a half hour ago, Joe said "Hey Danielle, yes I remember the Eagles Chicks sign. Thanks for your email". I'm assuming that was Danielle aka Mrs. Henley because I seem to remember her saying she had written him an email. So at least we know he is reading the emails.

"Eagles Radio" is part of the "iheartradio" network which is owned by Clear Channel, Sirius/XM's competitor (unless they somehow merged when I wasn't looking). Is the spot a commercial for Expando that Timothy could have purveyed in order to promote his album?

I'm going off topic here, but... my good friend/co-worker lives in the same neighborhood as Jeff Tweedy. She couldn't make it to Timothy's show, because she was at the Wilco show that night. They have mutual neighborhood friends and have mixed it up at some parties. Cool, eh?

Bringing this forward again because listening this morning, which I haven't done in a very, very long time. Like I said in another thread, I'm hearing Timothy's voice during the song breaks more than Joe's today.
I'm wondering how often they replay things or change the format, etc.? The reason is because since I haven't listened for so long, I thought maybe I'd hear some newer interviews, promotions for the fall season shows, etc., but I just heard an interview from Joe with David Gilmour (thought of you Lou!) which I had heard ages ago. And then a bit ago, they actually played a commercial for the "Summer Tour with the Dixie Chicks and Keith Urban". WTH? Seriously? They're within days of starting their fall tour, why are they still playing this instead of something new to promote the upcoming shows? :-( That kind of disappointed me.

So just for kicks, here is what they have been playing since I started listening, according to the Playlist which I just reviewed:

Start Me Up - Rolling Stones
Leaving Las Vegas - Sheryl Crow
Dolly Dagger - Jimi Hendrix

You Wreck Me - Tom Petty
Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac
Brain Damage / Eclipse - Pink Floyd
White Room - Cream

Purple Haze - Jimi Hendrix
Walking on the Moon - The Police
Box Full of Letters - Wilco

Baba O'riley - Who
The Long Run - Eagles
Losing My Religion - R.E.M.
Proud Mary - Creedence Clearwater Revival
Slip Slidin' Away - Paul Simon
Breakfast in America - Supertramp
Sloop John B - Beach Boys
I like it when they throw in 80s and 90s stuff such as U2, Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, R.E.M. and Green Day. I like the rockers from the 70s they play. However, they're kind of heavy on the weird / psychedelic stuff, which is definitely not my thing.
