Yeah, and even Joe posted a link to an unauthorized fanvid that someone had made to his new song "Family" and put on YouTube. He recommended people check it out. A much better reaction than having it removed and the user's account disabled, if you ask me!

Soda, he did more than that. He put that fan video on his website.

That is some amazing footage there. but yes I wonder how Don feels about this. I'm sure he would not be too happy about it. This is something we might expect to see on the Anniversary video? Hummm That would be nice!

Jack posted this on Facebook today as his 'Flashback Freyday'. I think I've seen it on here before, but it's worth watching again. Just something about a man in tight jeans and boots that always works for me...

Message from Jack Tempchin:

Those aren't the first that I have seen there. There was one called Eagles California Nights with a 70's picture of the band on the cover, which was a complilation of Glenn & Don interviews from their "14 year vacation". Very misleading. I have also seen a "cheesy" documentary in a greatest albums type series where the commentators pronounce Glenn's name "Fray" all but one time.

ohh I actually rented both of these from Netflix..they were awful! poor quality and who cares what those bozos (the commentators) had to say about the Eagles albums?!
and I couldn't believe they were actual dvds that were sold for real money haha

I'm pretty sure someone already posted this BBC '73 concert here, but it looks like that video was taken down.
I had found this shortly after I saw the doc and I've been cherishing it ever since. I love this performance! It's so clear, sounds amazing, and they look great! Fun vibe :)

I want to own this so I don't have to worry about it being taken down!

I also know that some videos from California Jam 1974 have been posted here already, but wasn't sure if everyone has seen all of them or is aware of the California Jam facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/california-jam-fan-club/279833373059?fref=ts

Here all the videos (including all other band performances) have been collected in one place there in the video section.

Jackson Browne is performing with Randy, Glenn, Henley and Bernie. Felder was supposed to be there that day too, but his wife was giving birth.

The Eagles video footage includes:
Already Gone
an Eagles instrumental with video of skydivers
Midnight Flyer
James Dean

There are too many posts to go though, so I was wondering if someone could tell me if there are any other Eagles documentaries online or on YouTube? I know the recent Showtime one isn't on there (or available to buy yet), and I was wondering if there are any other ones. YouTube doesnt seem to have much for video clips of the band, especially from the old days and I'm having no luck doing searches. I find it hard to believe there is nothing out there. Thanks!

As for documentaries, the Eagles have never done one before this. There are several unauthorized biographies of the group, none of them very accurate. To The Limit is probably the best of the crop.

YouTube...our guys aren't big fans of YouTube because in most cases, it's a copyright violation. If a video goes up it usually gets taken down rather quickly. There are two great DVDs available for purchase, Hell Freezes Over and Farewell 1.

There are a couple unauthorized documentaries on Netflix which are complete crap and I recognize some of the footage they use as downloaded from the internet. In one, which is made in Britain, they pronounce Glenn's last name as "Fray." Best to stay away from them!

just a quick question...
this live Hotel California is from Washington DC 1977 (part of the concert that will be on the History of the Eagles DVD), isn't it?
https://eaglesonlinecentral.com/multimedia/videos/HotelCaliforniaLive77.mpg

it is listed here https://www.eaglesonlinecentral.com/downloads/multimedialivevideo.htm as New York 1977

just wondering, cos Glenn is wearing that same Colorado shirt as in the clips in the doc from the Washington DC concert too.

which, in case I haven't already said it (I have), I am super excited about seeing in its entirety!

That's one of those dangers of bootlegs - inaccurate labelling. It came to me labelled as a New York show but now we discover it's Washington DC (or Largo)... and yes, I daresay it's the same show.

ah okay!
I wonder how people get a hold of these things!
I mean I guess that one was from VH1 and they had probably recorded it to VHS, but those older ones with no labeling...I always wonder how they got their hands on 'em. I know the Eagles said they recorded many (if not all) of their live shows right? so someone leaked them I guess.

Ahh...yeah I'm getting that about them, they aren't big on their stuff being online for free, I had the same problem with Spotify, I wanted to listen to all their songs to see which ones I liked enough to buy, and they didnt have a single one on there! So I had to make do with minute long samples from iTunes.

Wow so this was the first legitimate documentary, that explains why all of you were so excited about it! Gosh that's a long time to go without making one, i'm surprised one wasn't made sometime in the 80's!

Well - I think lots of attempts were made, which explains why there are so many bootlegs and unauthorized things out there. Most of biographical DVDs that you find aren't that great as Soda mentioned. There are also quite a few books that have been published about the band, and we have threads in this forum that discuss many of them. However, as a fan, I have that 'something is better than nothing' mentality, even if it is crap. Some of it, you just have to take with a grain of salt.

Too bad about that, wish there was more of their stuff online ~ I'm not talking about illegal downloading, I'm talking about paid downloading and official channels. They do have some videos on MySpace at least, and Warner Bros. has put up a couple of Don's videos on their official channel.

I thought tickets were cheaper than even that back then! I've heard stories of people seeing Eagles and Zeppelin for anywhere from $2.50 to $7. was it $15 for like front row or something? or was it all GA?

Just getting around to seeing this, T&H. I'm pretty sure that tickets prices for the guy's in the late 70's were in the $12 - $15 range. As I said, I didn't get to go to any shows, but I specifically remember my cousins going and paying those prices. Honestly, I don't know what kind of tickets they were, but I doubt if they were front row because I'm sure my cousins would still be talking about it if they were.

My first concert -- ever!!! I was 13 and in total awe of the Eagles. I still am!!! I remember BEGGING my father to let me go. He was a NYC homicide detective and was not thrilled at the prospect of me running around Central Park unsupervised. I was careful -- but I was going. With or without permission. That's where it all started for me. The rest is history. :guitar:

HH

I love this story! How amazing for you that you got to see them in Central Park during that period. And your father let you go! And in 1972 NYC, with what your father probably saw at work on a regular basis, that was pretty incredible of him.

I was 13 when my brother asked my mother if I could have an extra ticket that he and his friends had in Nov. of '76 at Crisler Arena in Ann Arbor. I begged and begged and begged, to no avail :( My brother and his friends were far from choir boys, and my mother knew they would be drinking and smoking pot, and I'm sure she didn't want me to be exposed to that, but I held that one against her for a long time. LOL Had to wait until 1979 to see them for the first time, and by then, Randy was gone.

For someone who asked about ticket prices in this thread, I just looked at the ticket stubs in my photo album from those shows (my brother felt bad, so he gave me his). They were $7 for the 1976 show (but I think his seats were in the nosebleeds), and mine for TLR tour was $12.50. It was a decent side seat. Wow, that doesn't even come close to covering the service charges these days!

Loved your story too, NYC fan and thanks for verifying those ticket prices. I'm so envious of those of you who were able to see the band in the 70's and for the HFO tour. I wasn't able to see them for the first time until 2003, so I've been trying to make up for lost time ever since.

Wow, that was cool! I grew up 20 miles from Irvine Amphitheatre. Saw Depeche Mode there in 1987! (I have diverse musical tastes).

Two questions:

1) Does anybody else think that Timothy and his Travis Tritt video/HFO-era hair look just like Matt Dillon in "Singles"? (Coincidentally a Cameron Crowe pic)

2) Was this Joe's very FIRST tour show sober (not counting MTV concerts)? He looks pretty rough in the very short clip...poor guy.

I saw this on the L&M Fastlane Facebook page last night. This is Excellent!!

Great interviews with Glenn and Don!!

Mary, I don't really remember that movie too well, but maybe Tim's facial hair looks like Matt's. I don't think he looks too much like Matt Dillion though.

As for Joe, yes, I do believe this was when he just got sober to do this tour. I thought he seemed ok.

I also was a bit surprised that Glenn has a wardrobe stylist, but I guess we shouldn't be. Even though the wardrobe is very casual, I guess they have someone on hand to iron the shirts if they get wrinkled & make sure the jeans are passable, (no rips in certain places) lol.
I worked as a stylist for awhile when I left school. It was a fun job, but sometimes a pain in the neck. I worked in a photography studio, not a band tour!! I wouldn't mind dressing the Eagles though. That would be a FUN job....:nahnah:

MaryC, I tend to agree with you after seeing the images that Pm, linked to. Quite a resemblance to me!

So, a few thoughts. Huell said they were shooting for a documentary. Wonder what happened to that idea?

They said they were recording the concert. Wish we could see it all!

Glenns wardrobe ladies! Too funny! And I think he needs to do something different now than the t-shirt and over shirt since he's been doing that since 94!

Brooke, seems that they recorded most shows & especially that one being it was the start of HFO, but the documentary....Well, I guess that is what we just got in the History of the Eagles DVD.... Unfortunately, none of this stuff made it to the documentary, but some of it should have. That was quite a lot of interesting stuff. Someone posted a comment on the YouTube video that some of this should have been included. I would love to see more of that show.

thanks for posting this!! it was a fantastic watch throughout even though the Eagles weren't in most of it.. it was interesting to see behind the scenes a bit. and all of those key points you noted were the highlights for sure!

those ladies for Glenn's wardrobe seemed to realize how silly it sounded that they dress Glenn as they were trying to describe what they do and what they dress him in haha. my sister in law dresses Maury Povich and though, it seems silly, but they have so many other things to worry about with being in the public eye that they don't need to worry about their clothes.

i love how animated Glenn is...he was made for the stage! hehe

I found it interesting that their bags are marked with the same number as their cars. You can see the yellow #2 tag on the bag DH is carrying. Glenn hopped into car #1. Guess it makes it easy to "grab and go" with no mix up of luggage.

When I noticed the cars are all numbers, I imagine them all on the plane picking numbers out of a hat to see what car they are get into when they come off the plane and Joe saying, "Man, I'm in the last car---AGAIN. I'll trade you numbers Glenn." :hilarious:

Oh come on, Dreamer. I would like to see you explain the term in this connotation in depth to Lamorna.

:hmm: We may have to plan a Border Chat Party dedicated solely to exploring the in-depth meaning of the complex lyrics in Chug All Night.

And I also love that HFO version of PEF, and am also very perplexed as to why they left it off of the DVD. However, I have to say that the best performance of the song I've ever heard is the 1993 Party of Two show in Washington, D.C. To me, it's even more exquisite than this one. :faint:

Ok, I'm going insane trying to find a video that was posted recently. It was backstage at the HFO tour shows, with interviews with the band about the concert. Not the interview on the HFO disc, this was some news guy interviewing them. I've done search after search and can't find it.

I'm sure you all can remember what thread it's in! :hilarious:

So this video was posted in the Linda Ronstadt R&RHoF thread. Does anyone know if the entire press conference is available? I would love to see the whole thing! I e-mailed the organizers of Sundance London at the time to ask if it would be streaming, and they replied "sadly, no." They were very responsive and nice. But obviously there is video...I tried a quick YouTube search but didn't get results. It may be on here and I missed it.

Maybe, behind their smiles, the Eagles were secretly enraged and wishing they could stop the show to demand those selfish girls get down. ;)

I don't know how familiar you guys are with Minecraft, but if you aren't, it's a video game that is extremely popular with kids, it's good for all ages. Not only do the kids play it incessantly, they love to watch YouTube videos OF OTHER PEOPLE PLAYING IT. It's a whole thing. Those who make the videos often add music that is a parody of a popular song, changed so that the lyrics are Minecraft-relevant. Anyway, tonight after I made her watch Linda R. (Different Drum), Stevie N. (Rhiannon), Dolly P. (Jolene), and Timothy B. (RoC) on YouTube, I saw her typing away, looking for "Eagles Minecraft". I was skeptical, but didn't want to discourage her, so I just stayed quiet, and lo and behold, she found a video to Hotel California. The music is made with "note blocks", which is basically just a right click of the mouse that produces a note. It must have taken this guy forever to make the music (video is super boring, though). I didn't let her read the comments.

I would say that the audiences on the current tour agree with you! For some reason, they really get a kick out of TBS in the spotlight on the harmonica. If any videos are still up on youtube, you can hear the surprisingly loud cheer for the harmonica!!

That's a great video, thanks Shun. Don's hair at full velocity, Glenn's porcelain skin, Bernie getting his little groove on - and they all sound great. I like when Don sings on top at the end, too.
